Updated Wellington skins by kelticheart

UT,
p.s. Oh, and the ashtray, do you want it on the left or the right of the cockpit, in cerise or taupe?.....:victorious:...........................................

Details, details - Scrub the ashtray, I'm waiting for the Lib MkI with a cannon pack, & the MkII with the 4 gun Boulton Paul Upper Turret, & an LB-30 :a1089:.... I've seen you in the FS9 forum, I know you're slacking...

Hi Kelti,
I don't know which Welly you're using there, but it ain't mine. I think that's Ted's original Fs9 converted, which therefore is not multi-LODed, new crew, VC problems and all the other bits I added etc.

Here's a proper MkXIII with permenant aerials (not DP added), this and the MkXIV have been sitting there, whilst other projects took over, Whitleys etc.

So, note to self, get these out, when I've finished the other couple of projects which are nearly done..........

Just wouldn't want you to spoil your Welly-bag experience!

Cheers

Shessi

Hi Shessi! :wavey:

Let me explain everything. You probably missed the top replies of this thread or you didn't read the readme I enclosed in each repaint update. No probs, I am lazy too, when it comes to reading instruction text files....:biggrin-new:

The aircraft model IS your most recent update of T. Cook's Wellington MkX conversion. I even replied at some point, saying that I could not have the prop tips painted yellow because your new texture mapping placed the yellow spots on the moving prop spinner too, once the prop is in motion, and you replied the mapping changes were minimal.

I updated Morton's and UncleTgt's repaints by adding the undercarriage struts textures, as you did in your update, and covering with a small area of colour the rear area of the D/F antenna loop fairing that, with your new mapping, remained partially untextured.
If you open "Base0_t.bmp" first texture file of the updates I uploaded, you will notice a tiny square of colour attached to the lower area of the left engine nacelle texture. That square "paints" the rear of the D/F fairing.
In the last two skins done by UncleTgt I found a better looking pilot face texture that the original, so I included it as well.

Therefore, the only texture files I touched up in both Morton's and UncleTgt's old repaints are all "Base0_t.bmp". There was no need to modify "Base1_t.bmp" wings and fuselage texture files.

The reason why I enclosed the second texture file is for an easy install, with everything needed included. You may notice all update packs include "British Oxymask 3.bmp" and "DB7_01.bmp", both additional texture files which were not part of the old conversion pack.

Why both files have a recent save date? I simply saved them both in 565 extended bmp format without mips, since in recent computers they tend to cause fuzzy textures, as recent threads on this subject pointed out.

Why UncleTgt's repaint updates I uploaded yesterday include a MkXIII dp, with an additional antenna payload? Because I wanted to stress who did the original repaint by including his modified files, that is UncleTgt. Besides, I liked the idea of additional fuselage defensive guns, I didn't even recall that you spun a specific radar-equipped Wimpey from T. Cook's original.

Last thing, in order to keep clear the concept the repaints are not mine, I chose to use pictures enclosed in the original packs to which I overwrote "UPDATED REPAINT". Hence, the models portrayed are obviously the old ones, while I admit one could be confused by the appearance of the thumbs posted in the library.

Was I clear enough? I still remember the frustrated comments you made in the first conversion pack, when, apparently, it was impossible correcting the rudder permanently stuck to one side, but you overcame that splendidly! :encouragement:
These repaints together with your huge effort to make Cook's Wellington more palatable for us all, gifts us all the best-looking Wellington ever made, or adapted, for CFS2.

Cheers!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!........................nooooooooooooooooooo!..........:biggrin-new:

Kelti,
Pleeeeeeeeeeease, I am not questioning anything about anyones texs, and yes you've done a great job of porting them over to the newer Welly. Great to have a selection.....good stuff fella!:applause:

BUT

The Wellington you are using in your pics and upload shots is NOT my new updated Welly. The simple way to tell is that front turret guns are pointing downwards in your pics. They were only like that in Ted's original Fs9 model AND Buddha's and my old CFS2 conversion. When I did the total revamp I put the guns to a flat alert ready position, as can be seen in the below pic.

As I said to UT, you may not be having the full 'Welly-bag experience', that's all.......

Shessi my friend,

no worries, I didn't think you were questioning anything. In any case, I always welcome positive criticism, as room for improvements can be endless and you amply demonstrated it with this Welly conversion. I was only afraid you thought I worked on the old model, so I simply explained what I did in detail. Not a lot in truth, I only worked on one file of the whole texture set and...

BUT The Wellington you are using in your pics and upload shots is NOT my new updated Welly......

...here you are absolutely right. My choice of using the original authors' screenshots was deliberate, in order to avoid that the texture packs looked as if they were done by me. Morton and UncleTgt painted them.
I was lazy, I should have done a "before and after" screenshot combo, but time can be a tyrant sometimes! :wiggle:

:wavey: for now, waiting anxiously for your next release of another one the great addons you always gave us. Thank you! :loyal:

Cheers!
