hi Nigel, unfortunately i cannot open xpd files here with my wife`s apple in Germany....
so I wonder: have u also modified the typical speeds in the aicraft xpd?
I say this one because recently I found a very nice site on the web called "wwiiaircraftperformance" where I could find tons of tech infos on our beloved warbirds, hence my modified speeds in my 109Gs.
let me explain: I was always deceived by the bad speed cheracteristics of the 109, especially at altitude.
when flying at 20000 ft u could not, in level flight of course, be faster than an IAS of 370 kph and at sea level no faster than 480 kph.
now if u read the report u can find out tha actual IAS speed were respectively 470 and 525 kph, this making a huge difference....
so, coming back I modded those typical velocities inside the xpd in order to get the "real" ones and the behaviour of the machine changed quite a lot and improved!
of course now I wonder if ALL THE AIRCRAFTS XPDS VELOCITIES should be changed.......
have a nice day man!

Speed is not governed by the xdp file; that deals with weapons, armament, loadouts, effects and damage. Speed is governed by the aircraft.cfg and .air files; Rene has gone into the performances of the real aircraft very carefully and is satisfied with the result. Do bear in mind that the Gustav had only 1475 hp at take-off.

I have no idea about what the indicated airspeeds should be but I can say that when talking about true airspeed this one does 505 km/h at sea level, 624 km/h at 22900 feet and climbs 1050 metres per minute at about 220 km/h. According to wwiiaircraftperformance the speeds should be between 504 and 515 km/h at sea level, anywhere around 620 km/h at full throttle height and the climb rate just above 1000 metres per minute. I'd call that close enough for government work. It IS a dog to fight in.

nevertheless if u change those speeds u can actually see the didderence in your gauges and the mustangs behind do not catch u so easily, but of course u are right, speed is governed by the aircraft and air files, nevertheless.....
I´m more than eager to try that beast!!! (oh yeah, greycap, it´s a dog to fight in anyway...)

Hmmm... You seem to be missing the textures for the filter... Odd. It is in the package - just checked! dr_filterpylon_03_t.dds and dr_filterpylon_04_t.dds. Look in the "Contents into pylons" subfolder.

Anyway, glad you're having fun!

This is Yellow 9 of I./JG 52, Pipera, Near Bucharest, Romania, summer 1944. Don't let the yellow markings fool you - Romania's in MAW!

I think Owen will like this one! Coming soon...
