US dollar climbing

Hope the Euro will gain again on the Dollar.

The low US Dollar gave us Dutch some kind of a benefit buying from American sites and vendors. The prices in Holland are rediciously high, even compared to our neighbours (software, movies, CD's, electronics, cloth etc, etc.).
but im coming to Holland:banghead:
so how about a month then gain:d

Yes, unfortunately if one currency gains another loses, but we have on the bottom side so long we could use a break. Besides the upside of this is we will buy more European products for our hobby.:ernae: That is if there is anything left to spend when the Wall Street shysters are done with us.

I've heard that quite a bit about Holland's prices, why do they get hammered so badly?

Because they are nice and independent ......

Probably becuase they pay half of their earned income to their government. That's what happen's when you socialize your health care system........I could be wrong.

My top tip is pay attention to the news when you go on holiday. When I flew out to LA to visit friends in August it was about 2 dollars to the pound (great for working out how much stuff costs by the way), when I flew back it was about 1:80, if only I'd known that was going to happen...

The pricing for FTX is based on Aussie dollars. The Aussie dollar is bouncing all over the place presently and has dropped against the US dollar. It's more a case of the Aussie dollar dropping rather than the US dollar climbing. I've bought a few items on ebay these past couple of weeks and they've varied quite a bit. The dropping Oz $ is one of the reasons that Orbx have announced a price increase for FTX next year. http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=5448.0

Seems like I'm paying about half my income now, and not getting anything for it. Better keep up that :running:.

Yeah. We don't get kicked out of the hospital when our credit runs out. Such hardship! ;)

Seriously, everyone is having currency issues at the moment. The US$ has apparently shot up against the GB£ at the moment, but what's actually happened is that the £ has lost value against everything. Not sure what currency is going up at the moment, but the US$ is a good bet!

The upward trend of the US dollar is a nice thing to see, definitely.

But if indications come true, I've a feeling that direction will go the opposite direction, following this November's election.

I won't say anything more about this, but am sure you know what my poliitcal affliliation is.

The US is getting ready, I fear, to repeat the depression of 1929-33. But this one will be worse. Folks back then were much more self-suficient. People nowadays will riot and go into mass panic. I would not want to live in or near a large city, for example. My stepson lives in the Atlanta area. I've already told him to plan on leaving town when the s... hits the fan. It will be ugly.

I understand that too..After seeing the Rodney king riots in mediacore times back in 1990 something.. There is (No way) if we go into a sudden depression that we as a nation will react to it like in the 1930's-all getting along and stuff the best we can good ole boy type model.. You can expect all your house (You) and property to be raped overnight if the economy falls to a 1930 living style depression. It will be like one of these old Escape from New York movies-- I do not think that it will happen this time--But we all know it is coming one day.. Dodged for now hopefully

Well, not to offend any of our neighbors out there in SOH land, but I hope it flip-flops enough to the point, I can pick up all of the Payware I haven't been able to buy lately, for a song. :costumes:

It could be worse..... one of my colleagues has all his money on the Icesave bank (an internet bank in Iceland). The bank went broke yesterday and although Iceland gave some guarantees he is not able to access his money and the guarantee given by Iceland was much lower than the actual amount. As Iceland has a very small economy the country is broke as well and most probably not able to keep up their guarantee....

It must be a nice feeling to worry about money on a bank :costumes:. As I don't have to worry about money on a bank, I paid his coffee today ;)

NC no political statement here please. And this financial crisis is the end of our money, but not the end of the world.

Cheers,
Huub

If Iceland is broke, maybe we could club together and make an offer for the country?

Dibs on Grand Dictator for Life.

:costumes::costumes: We shouldn't be laughing at a country's demise...We too might just face the same thing one day......

But Grand Dictator for Life.....??????? I want a couple years to impliment my authority some too....:kilroy:

No need to make a political statement. Situation is crystal clear, and votes will be cast. Consequences forthcoming. In Navy terms, standby for heavy rolls, shipmates.

The crisis has not been caused by politicians, but by greedy bankers and unwise bankcustomers. So no use to bring up the coming American elections.

I can't recall I have ever bothered anybody here with the elections in my country.

The Netherlands is mainly a very social country. We have a multi party political system. As no party has a real majority we always have a mixture in our gouvernement.
