US modern Weapons for F4 Phantoms

Hi All.

Just downloaded some CFS2 F4's from various sources. The readme's are vague on weapons but on opening the dp file on one or two of these I apparently need some weapons files that I've never heard of. I've got pretty well every modern weapons file I can find but this one eludes me;

mount.0=wep_usmodern_f4pylon_out, 1, 1
mount.1=wep_usmodern_f4pylon_out, 1, 1
mount.4=wep_usmodern_f4pylon_inwinder, 1, 1
mount.5=wep_usmodern_f4pylon_inwinder, 1, 1

This is a sampling of the dp file for F4_VF102. What throws me is the 'usmodern'......I can't find a weapons file that's written this way. Most modern weapons files are written 'us_modern'.

It also looks as if these weapons are F4 only as you can see above.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. If you know where I can find these please let me know....or if you know how to change these and include the f4 pylons, please share this with me.

I've em'd the contributors but no reply so I'm appealing to youse doods.

Cheers!:bump:

are you getting the old "can't find..." error?
did the planes come with their own weapons? maybe they didn't install properly, lost dp s
maybe you should just edit aircraft dp to use the weps you have already.

Hi Simonu. The planes didn't come with their weapons or documentation for such, but the dp lists them as I showed.

I think you're right, I'll have to edit the dp's to use what I have. None of the other packs have the F4 pylons though, so I think I'm stuck.

That's Them!!

SC you've done it again......thank you very much! And Simonu, thanks for your input.

As an aside to this, I tried changing the Alpha Phantom weapons and things looked OK to start with. I called up the plane with the new loadout (no error message), then hit 'fly now'. When it loaded my plane started doin' cartwheels and finally (thankfully) blew up.

Thanks again guys!:jump:

No Problemo

...SC you've done it again......thank you very much!... When it loaded my plane started doin' cartwheels and finally (thankfully) blew up....

I'm just amazed that I even HAD that in my files - Typically, I tend to stick with Pre-'50 Prop planes !

[Must have been discovered and d/l'd during my Weapons Hunt Mania episode last Winter when snowed in for a week...]

As for the cartwheeling Jet... Simonu had some pretty good clues posted in your other Thread - Try moving the CoG around a bit and see if it calms down. If all else fails [CHEAT WARNING !!!] go into the DP of each weapon and drop the 'Weight=' to 10 pounds each.

Not very realistic... but the plane WILL settle down.

Something new every day......

Boy SC I learn something new here every day, thanks a load for this as well. So different weapons (alpha, DBolt, etc.) will change the CoG?

I'da thought that an aim9 is an aim9, for example. Verrrrry interesting!:jump:

Weight Juggling...

Modding the weights of payloads was something I saw in a random thread sometime before the Great SOH crash....

If one goes into each weapon's DP file and lowers the weight as listed [see example below], the aircraft will naturally act differently in flight and during take-off. Before I knew a lot about AIR files (and believe me, I'm STILL Learning !) I used this technique to get my bombers to fly better.

It does NOT appear to alter the destructive capability of the weapon dropped - that is controlled by another part of the DP file.

T'anks Pal. I tried it but it didn't work, though I'm sure it would've given the right problem, lol.:bump:

Check my other thread out on 'tutorials'.....stumbled upon the answer. I learned a lot today and I've got you guys to thank......thank you!

Cheers!:salute:
