Hi, folks!

Follwing a proposal by Smilo, here comes a non-individualised Warhawk (no noseart, no killmarks, no bells-and-whistles):

There's not much known about this particular aircraft.
Starting with this photograph:

I found out that 41-36504 was intended to be delivered to the RAF as EV250 but retained in USA. Collided with another aicraft on takeoff at Hillgrove AAB, RI, Dec 27, 1942.

hate to be a spoilsport but the real plane in the photo is a P-40K, not an E model, you can tell by the dorsal extension of the vertical stabilizer
 
I've noticed the extended dorsal fin, mate!
But since there's no K model available and pictured references on "clean" E models are hard to find on the other hand, I allowed this inaccurancy.

btw:
Joe Baugher classifies this serial as belonging to an E model. I don't believe in hand-drawn profiles, but I do trust Baugher's lists... :d

I've just received a kind note of a duck-shaped comrade here, pointing me at the wrong US Insignia I used. Just compare the real pic with my screenies: The red lines of course have to replace the blue outline of the bars!

You know why this happened?
I've created this kind of red outlined star-and-bars for the Wanaka Corsair (where it appeared to be correct...). Without spending a second thought, I picked it out of the templates folder and pasted it on the Warhawk.

Back to the paint shack, a fix will of course be provided.

did a litle digging and came up with this

some of the last P-40Es off the line had the “big tail” added on. Most of these ended up in training units. The easy way to distinguish them is the serial number. If it is a 41- series, meaning built in 1941, it’s an E. All of the Ks were built in 42.

Thanks, my old link to Joe Baughers has been dead for a while and I was thinking his site had gone off line. It's a neat place to dig around.
