That's kind of an unusual airport. It services a very small population base and is visible from the freeway (I5). It is pretty much all by itself, with no industrial park or anything, just hangers. They used to have a couple of F7F's there, which were used for fire supression, I imagine in the day they flew B25s and B17s out of it. It is on the bottom of a very high valley surrounded by mountains, most notably Mt. Shasta. The area around the valley (which holds the city of Yreka) is heavily timbered. What I'm trying to say is it is pretty much defenseless, because there has never been a problem.
