VC question for modelers

jmig

SOH-CM-2025
I received the first of three Optoma short throw projectors for my sim this weekend. I was able to build a quick test screen and tried out both forward and rear projection.

From 18" away I get about a 36-38 diagonal image. Sitting two-three feet from the screen I was able to easily read the instruments and immerse myself in the scenery. So, here is the rub.

In using the TH2Go, I know the VC will be spread way more than it's real size. Is there a way I can adjust the VC spreading while still using the TH2Go to widen the scenery?

Ideally, I would like to set up the middle screen so the cockpit shows close to real life size about two feet in front of me and I still have the wide view of the scenery from the TH2Go.

Can I make the VC image files a different size? Or change the spread in the panel cfg file?

Any and all ideas will be appreciated.

Don't know the answer, but I do know that's it's not a VC model issue, but more of a sim screen rendering issue. Maybe a setting in .cfg file? Or panel .cfg file?

Thanks Tim. I appreciate you answering. Knowing that it is not a VC issue encourages me.

Hi John,

I know in the fsx.cfg file there is an entry I always change from

WideViewAspect=False

I change it to =True, if you haven't tried that, you might give it a shot.

Cheers,
Bob

I had it set to True when running the three monitors. I am going to order the other two projectors and then start experimenting with the cfg notations.

If I can get it to work the way I envision, I will be able to have any VC panel right in front of me and still use my I/O switch and control set up.

That would be sweet.
