Vermont Air Guard History

Brian_Gladden

SOH-CM-2025
I've been slowly putting together a collection of FSX aircraft with appropriate repains (Some done by me) to represent the primary aircraft showing the history of the Vermont Air National Guard. I'm only lacking a decent FSX P/F-47D, and the Aerosoft F-16 to have the entire collection of combative types.

This weekend I'll try to get my repaints of the FSX modded Ito-san F-94C (VT only had the A/B model but it's the only one available and a bear to paint) the A2A Aircraft Factory F-51H and the FSX revamped Alphasim F-4D. My F-35 paint is already here on SOH for Dino's F-35A. The rest are paints I've gotten for the Virtavia Scorpion, Alphasim (redone for FSX. Available here) EB-57 and the Razbam F-102.

Shots are from Model Converter X except the Mustang and F-35.

That's awesome! I used to live in Shelburne and would love to recreate your collection in my sim. Great job on the paints!

I would LOVE an updated EB-57 (Alphasim's is the best out there-- and is 10+ years old) to simulate the Green Mountain Boys' time with that air frame...but I don't think we'll ever get an updated EB/B-57B/E...which SUCKS...cuz it's a neat airplane. And whileit's been done over...and over...and over...and over since, 2006...the EE Canberra is not a replacement for the EB-/B-57.

Would love a dyed in the wool B-57.

Allen here at SOH has converted Piglet's T-33A to an F-94B model. It is in our library. It is an Fs2004 model, but should display and work in FSX.

Nice work Brian.

I joined the VT ANG's 158th FG, 134th FIS during the transition from the F-89J Scorpion to the F-102A Delta Dagger which was usually called the "Deuce". Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your perspective, I'm old enough to have seen all the VT ANG's fighter aircraft fly from the P-47D Thunderbolt (vaguely) to the F-16C Fighting Falcon and am anxious to see the first F-35A Lightning II's arrive in the fall of 2019.

My aunt used to run the cafeteria in the original Burlington airport terminal building and I remember while visiting her staring at the VT ANG's F-94A/B Starfires when they were based near there on the current civilian side of Burlington IAP. At that time the USAF's 37th FIS was based on the other side of the airfield where the VT ANG currently resides at what was then called Ethan Allen Air Force Base and originally flew F-51D's, then F-86D's and finally F-102A's before being deactivated in 1960.

Just a few recollections that you may find interesting.

Got a couple of shots of the F-94C tonight....

Nice. I didn't see that one. I'll take a look on how it works as a portover and use the T-33 paint kit as a starting point

Scrubby did a P-47D for FSX found over a simvation, and there's a host of ANG repaints by Mick in our own library ( no VT repaint sadly ), they are for FS9 but work fine in FSX, Im happy with this model in my hanger but im keeping one eye open for the AH 47.
I also have and fly often Allen's F-94B in my hanger, Mick has done about 20 repaints for this model, including USAF,NACA and ANG that work fine in FSX, although ive converted the fuselage tex's to DDS format as there a little blurry.

cheers ian

It would be great to have a better F-94C Starfire. One of my first models in the late 1950s, I've always had a soft spot for it. Mr.Ito was kind enough to do this one for a friend. Sadly, by that time his eyesight had been badly affected by ill health.

Allen's FS9 F-94B with a quick VT Guard repaint. Still need to work on the Alphas a bit. Took a little artistic licence with the full layout but you get the jist of it.

In Model Converter X:

And the real Deal:

If someone could do a Native FSX conversion on that I'd be a happy camper!

Allan's F-94B works great as a portover. Pretty easy on frames and will no doubt get better when I switch the textures to DXT's.

Think I have this one nailed down.

I look forward to adding this one to my F-94B set! Just read the quote at the bottom of your posts. Are you a Browncoat as well?
