Vertigo Studios B-25!

Lookin good so far, but the props need a little bit more work. Trailing edge needs to be sharp, and needs some twist in it. The inner portion of the prop has more bite to it then the outer.

FYI, there is a B-25C local to me here in Washington based at Paine field.

Thanks for the comments, it is an early wip - but noted.

Looks very nice already and Hurricane91 I appreciate the fact that it is a C model.

And only just the other day I was watching "The Doolittle Raid" on TCM. :) The movie may be hammy, but the scenes with the B-25's are outstanding.

WOOT!!!:jump::jump: Finally someone does an early model of the B-25. Now if we can just get a late "G" or "H" model (gotta luv that 75mm in the nose). Looking good so far, really looking forward to this one.:salute:

Also, if your interested, I may be able to sneak over too Paine field and do some research on there B-25C. :wiggle:

Hi Dean,

You just made my day! :pop4:

Isnt the C model the one with Sperry autopilot? I love the early models of B-25, such a nice shape, mini-liberator almost.

Yep, it looks like a C model, except the exhaust port is in the wrong spot. There were three very different exhaust port configurations in the B-25C/D production run. The first was a single, large port exiting just aft of the cowl flaps, not through the flaps as shown on this model. The second version had flattened pipes that exited from behind the flaps around the bottom 1/2 of the cowl. The third and most common production type was the single stacks exiting through the cowling. This third type became the standard arrangement for all subsequent production models of the B-25.

The TB-25N, a post-war modification of many B-25J's, often featured an exhaust arrangement of the individual stacks on the lower 1/3 of the cowling being retained, but all the other ports entered a manifold that exited through the cowling flaps as show on your model. Most of these also had Douglas DC-6 style carburetor air intakes instead of the original, North American intakes. Most restored B-25's have this style of intake and exhaust arrangement as it prevents rain water from entering the top cylinders when the plane is parked. It might also be a bit quieter when the aircraft is operating, but my one experience was that it was still a very deafening flight experience. Headphones or earplugs are highly suggested if you fly on a B-25.
