Replying to the nose shape from Paul , course this would be the variant were it would be required the LC-47 off VX-6 USN . Once these were retired , the US Navy donated the type, the one example ended up in the Ferrymead Museum in my home town Christchurch , Snow Shoes and all :)

This is purely to illustrate my observations and keep it focused on the Vertigo WIP shot and some real noses. This is where I think the two diverge..

Compare the length and somewhat bulbous shape above to the ones below.

Hope you don't mind all this, Deano.

Off course the original is primary , other than 'operation high jump' 1947 most Antarctic or Canadian and northern sortie were flown with the longer radar nose , the EC-47P had again a very different nose but every other way was a standard DC-3 .

@ Cirrus , having turbo prop Dak,s have the problem with having a different sound pack and panel to suit a different set off gauges , that would be the problem .

Speaking of the turbine 3.... Harolds Air Service in Fairbabnks Alaska flew one back in the 80's. I saw this plane this Spring in Kabul, same paint job but with a chin mounted sensor turret.

Cheers: T

Nice work Deano. Other then the MAAM DC-3/C-47 our sim has been lacking this aircraft for some time now.

Congratulations on your great work, I would very much appreciate the " Basler Turbo Conversions, LLC" to top this wonderful aircraft...it will allow me to do several Mission where the venerable and noble DC3/47 will not be able to participate leaving many pilots without the pleasure of flying in some awesome pieces of sky around the planet....my thanks in advance since am sure you will comply with this urgent requirement of many who will eternally be in debt with you and your awesome talent......May the gods of high clouds, mountains and adventure be on your side always.......:greenbo:

I can see where the noses diverge...one is Durante and one is Malden

I love that the old Master of the Skies is getting so much attention, but I can see why some members are quick to lament the fact that some types of planes get attention from several developers - while other significant types are left wanting.

It would be too much to ask for to have collaboration between the various third parties where a plane like the DC-3 is concerned (ie: sooo many variants of the basic type) when its the competition between them that improves the modeling and makes more artists seek the trade in the first place.

If I have to buy every DC-3 ever made for FSX to get all of the possibles represented - I'll DO it - even though there be some overlap.

Keep 'em coming boys - and we'll keep 'em flying
