Vertigo Studios Updated their CV6

Just heard from Deano that their CV6 patch has been released. The email reads:

 We encourage all of of CV6 customers to download the latest release.

NOTE : Please run the CV6 un-installer by going to : Start > All Programs > Vertigo Studios > USS Enterprise CV6 > Uninstall USS Enterprise CV6

Once the old CV6 has been totally removed. Simply log into your account over at www.pcsimstore.com and re-download the new installer.

Prior to installing the new build, please read through the updated PDF manual.

Please note that your current license / installation key will also work with this new build.

The updates consist of the LSO now operating as it should.

Thanks for your patients whilst we worked on a new patch.

My LSO hates me. :banghead:

I must be missing something in the instructions. I noticed the VS_LSO gauge folder is in the ship's panel folder. Does that have to be copied to the FSX gauges folder?

Update: My LSO finally showed up for work. Must have run out of coffee and sweet rolls in the dirty-shirt wardroom. :icon_lol:

Copying the VS_LSO folder to the FSX gauges folder did the trick.

painted how?

I'm not much into WWII sim flying, but I'm thinking of getting this - but purely for 50s era flying - as a bit of a fictional companion to Michael's USS Leyte - only more detailed, etc as a payware model should be.

So my question is how is it painted? the video seems to show a generic, non-camouflaged paint that would work passably for Korea:

yet the screenshots show the traditional wartime (WWII) MS-11 type camouflage, which of course, wouldn't work for Korean ops.

Here is a screen shot of the Vertigo CV-6 from my install. It comes with only one paint job. There are many reference photos online of Essex-class CV's in action during Korea, so repainting the ship to get rid of the camo paint would be tedious but not difficult if you wanted to deploy her to Korea. :adoration:

I did a couple of re skins Big E non camo, Yorktown and Hornet. Wanted to redo them as they came out looking too dark. If I could ever get some free time I could take another shot at it.

Thanks Tarps - that confirms what I figured. I suppose they shot the promo video before the paint was finalized? Seems reasonable ...

Grady - as I recall, you did the spruced up wood textures (no pun intended) for the Michael's CV, did you not? They really look good - and to date, make that boat is my 50s US CV of choice.

Would love to see what you could do with the CV-6 - if you get time ... Good as Michael's Essex class is, this boat, coupled with your paint, would be a sweet Korea era ticket, for sure. Nothing wrong with the one in your first shot, btw ...

Here is a quick one I banged out today CV-47 USS Philippine Sea still a WIP. Not sure about the colors had a hard time finding color shots of Korean era CVs. If anyone has a source for some clue me in.

I do have the mearsure used to compare against all periods, generally many photo's i'd have to dig out, take tomorrow to go thru.

Overall color is too dark on your recent efforts, OK for WWII maybe but not post-war. The Navy was already using Haze Gray for overall ship color during the Korean period. I've found that a RGB value of 194/198/197 looks good to me, although that's a bit lighter than some paint chips I've seen. Doing internet searches with ship names and hull #'s such as "uss valley forge cv-45 photos" will bring up some Korea-vintage color pics so you can get a ballpark idea of what colors you want to use. Most of the flight deck striping and #'s I've seen have been yellow.

Made a few changes still not sure about the deck color some shots it looks grey some shots it looks more of a brownish.

Flight deck is right on the money, I don't think you could nail it any better. Overall gray color looks way too blue to me. In some photos the Haze Gray does have a blue shade because it reflects the color of the sky. Same way those post-war jets in Gloss Sea Blue (which is so dark it's almost black) look more blue on the flight deck than they do on the hangar deck. This is my Haze Gray color (see attachment), at least it looks about right to me. This is the RGB color value I posted last night.
