Veterans & Active Military Duty- Eat Free @ Applebee's on Nov.11th

I thought this was very nice of them!

Hope some of you will be able to take advantage of this great gesture~

Two thumbs up Applebee's!

Great gesture indeed, and like hearing about companies doing this sort of thing, but I'll pass on their food - I ate better on the 2 Aircraft Carriers I served on! Mike :kilroy:

I think it is a thoughtful gesture. Don't know if I will take them up on it, but it is nice.

This past Saturday and Sunday, we let all Vets and Actives and their families in the museum for free. We were also a Blue Star Museum this past summer. The Blue Star Program was a program that allowed the families of activated soldiers in the museum for free. I'm sure we will do again if it is offered next year. About half the staff has someone in their family on active duty, including my family. It is our honor to do this for our troops.

Applebee's has done this for several years now. I've never taken them up on it, but I appreciate the sentiment.

I too, appreciate their offer, but the closest Appleby's is about 1 1/2 hour's drive from me. Maybe sometime though!

I am, however, going to participate in a walk to honor vets at nearby Copperhill, TN that day.

Well, I went and enjoyed myself enormously! I had quite a wait because there were LOT'S of active duty, Vets and their families waiting to be seated.

Since I was by myself, I asked the manager to check and see if there were any waiting who wouldn't mind sharing a table with me. I felt really guilty sitting by myself with three empty seats!

A nice gentleman and an elderly couple joined me at table, and we all had a very good free dinner and conversation. :)

I also decided to pick up the tab for the beverages and the tip, since I was the "most junior..." :ernae:

Awwwwwww! Reading this just made my whole night!

Such a "feel good" little story! It was also very sweet of you to pick up the tab for beverages and tip.

I salute you :salute:

Thanks for the hug! I really was the "most junior," since the single gentleman was a retired Lt. Col. US Army, and the older gentleman was a retired Brigadier General! Astronomically senior to me...

...since I was only a tired Sgt. First Class... :icon_lol:
