Veteran's Day

Thursday is Veteran's Day. It started out as Armistice Day to remember the Great War, but now after several more wars following the War to End All Wars, it is now called Veteran's Day.

Sans the history lesson, I want to say THANKS to all of you who have heard the bugle's call and strode forward to take the oath. Only a small percent of Americans serve at any given time, so the thin line of defenders can get pretty worn at times; but it has always held, thanks to your efforts.

Thanks Jagd1

Also....

Today, November 10, 2010 is the 235th birthday of the United States Marine Corps.

Happy Birthday and Best Regards to all present and former US Marines

I had an opportunity few people have had, my dad spent 20yrs in the Army and retired in 1983, in early 84 I joined the AF and retired in 2005. It was cool to have a blue retiree ID card just like he had. I used to tease him that I was now one of those old retirees.

Unfortunately he passed in Dec of 2005, but being able to share my military experience with him is something I won't forget. He understood things that was often hard to explain to those who had never served.

It was veterans like my dad and those before him that have given us our freedom and way of life.

My thanks to all of you that have served!

November 11 - Remembrance Day in Canada

Please take a few minutes from your busy day to remember and pay your respects, not only to the brave Men and Women of Our Armed Forces; but also to the Armed Forces of ALL FREE NATIONS.

Remember those who have fought and stood guard for us, to protect our freedom. And especially those brave souls who have made the ultimate sacrifice and have given their lives so that we may be free.

We owe it to ALL of them - TO NEVER FORGET

Remembering all the fallen. Had an uncle who was shot down over Germany. He died before I was born. My dad, who served in Korea, and spent about 35 years in the RCN. He used to love putting his uniform on, on this day, and laying a wreath, then having a few with his old buddies at the legion.:salute::ernae:

We have to really thank all those who fought for us. Our lives are pretty darn good, because of what they did.:salute::salute::salute:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Come a long way from Korea, and Nam,good to see a national change of heart towards our soldiers ,and my veteran fellows....Of course ,doing so we should remember those who are not here today, but thats an other day,Memorial day!...Congradulations Vets! and of course the real hero's, their families!!.....Vin!!
