VFR Appalachia is out

Here in La-La land there is a mortgage broker who advertises on the radio. His catch line is "It's the biggest no-brainer in the history of mankind." Anyone who knows me a little will attest that I'm honest, direct and not prone to BS! So all I can say is if anyone wonders if they're getting their money's worth with VFR Appalachia, It's the biggest no-brainer in the history of mankind!

Martinsburg is where I started or ended a lot of flights when flying around in West Virginia. There ain't nothing to compare default scenery to Graham's work. I'd been happy just for that one airport, but noooooo, Graham has to go and add a bunch more. I spent so much time eyeballing the work I kept losing the runway and a few of these places you're going to want to keep an eye out for the runway...

I highly recommend any and all to check out the preview pictures at the IslandSim web site;
http://www.islandsim.com/new-pacsim-projects.html

Dummy that I am, I missed checking out Ingalls Field in Virginia. Will have to do another flight. Isn't that a shame? :jump:

And keep an eye out for the basketballs stuck on the power lines. You can go over the top of them OK. But I found a more fun method... All I could think about as I made the landing was the line from Top Gun, "Cougar, pull up. Cougar, you're too low. Cougar, PULL UP!"

LCSim's WV 4m mesh ?

Probably the wrong place to post this . Is the LCSim's WV 4m mesh still available somewhere ? I know LCSim website is no longer . When the West Virginia mesh first came out I did download the free section available along the Ohio River/WVa border . Just purchased and I quickly found out what an excellent piece of work this is . Congrats to all in involved in the making of this excellent scenery .

Rich, Lance "Meshman" is LCSims. I hope he drops by to answer your question, but let me say that the WV 4m mesh is nicely done (no spikes or holes). I couldn't resist adopting his work as backdrop to VFR Appalachia and I hope he extends outward to cover other mid-Atalantic region for all to enjoy.

...I know LCSim website is no longer .

Not wanting to hijack Graham's thread, but I'll be taking the site back active shortly. Just need to check the files on the server. You can PM me here or send an email to Sales(at)LCSims.com if you're the impatient type. Graham's work fits nicely in the mesh and photo work for WV.

You're in Ohio? Wonder what I have in store for the Buckeye state... :jump:

Thanks Meshman . Looking forward to it . I've been to Martinsburg years ago . I had a military buddy in Hagerstown . A best friend in Cumberland(also military buddy) . I have actually visited Front Royal , Winchester , and a few others . Had a girl friend(years ago-1974) in Sharpsburg , Md . (Antietum Civil War Battlefield). Absolutely beautiful area . Pretty rough weather in Cumberland . Forgot to mention my ex father-in-law in Scottdale , Pa .

Very nice to see the creation continuing. I won't be getting it as its outside my Airhauler area of operations, but I hope its a massive success. If its as good as your Papua New Guinea scenery, I'm sure it will be.

Good review here: http://www.avsim.com/pages/0311/PIS/Appalachia.html. Congratulations, Wantok!

Thank you for the nice lead in, Dr. David!

After the review at Avsim surfaced I exchanged emails with Graham (Wantok) about boosting his sales, if at all possible. So here's my offer to anyone that buys VFR Appalachia by April 5th, 2011. Grab Graham's great work and I'll offer a free copy of the West Virginia 4.75m mesh. Or if people are interested in photo based scenery, I'll offer the 2.38m mesh and 1m photo scenery for $15.00, payable through PayPal. And no, a PayPal account is not required, they take credit cards. The photo work and 2m mesh normally sells for $35 through my site.

I'd like to mention that it's more than mesh, as my work involves accurately positioning the airports, along with eliminating those that no longer exist. And there's work done to eliminate or reduce the plateauing effect that higher resolution mesh seems to create.

My offer is rooted in me being a simmer first and foremost. So I was and am very happy to see Graham develop scenery around airfields I like to fly in or out of. More sales for Graham means greater incentive to continue making similar packages. From a business standpoint, with my site coming back on-line soon, getting more users of my work will hopefully generate some positive words around the vast FS community. And if people like West Virginia they might come back and look at the other products that have been done and that will be done. And I have a TON of material just waiting to be worked on.

So buy VFR Appalachia and get something for free or for more than 1/2 off!

But a personal disclaimer: I'm in the process of getting my house ready to sell. It's been a tiring task for this gray haired man, but the end is getting closer and the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train. But I still have things to do, such as seeding a 3,800 sq. ft. lawn in the next couple, three days. Files for West Virginia are on my site, but it takes a small manual effort to generate links and other things. So if you have or will be buying VFR Appalachia please be patient for my work to be processed. You can PM me here at SOH or send an email to Sales@LCSims.com for additional information or assistance.

I believe you'll enjoy flying around VFR Appalachia as much as I do and that the LCSims products will make things a little better, in it's own way.

A couple of screenies showing Graham's Martinsburg (KMRB) inside VFR+ WV and a couple of the type of airport work done in a LCSims product, the last being Mingo County Airport (4I0). Mingo is a fun place to fly into and out of!

The scenery looks very, very nice. This is not an area I have ever flown in.. that may have to change ;)

Congrats on releasing another nice package.

Great Stuff Wantok! Congratulations....

As a fan of Wantok I am so looking forward to the expansion of VFR Appalachia. There are many airports in the area that could use your magic touch...Cumberland....Deep Creek Lake....Frederick (home of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (and lots of student pilots))...Berkley Springs....Grant County...Greenbrier...Luray Caverns...and the list goes on. Meshman, thanks for encouraging him.

Thanks for the compliments one and all:salute:. I'm currently working the Marshall Islands and have couple others in the Pacific to cover before returning east. But it will be a while yet..

Dude: VFR Appalachia! Look at that detail! I swear I see my sister down there! And my wife!

Other Dude: I only see one person...

Dude: Yeah, that's what I said. My sister and my wife.

(Sorry. I couldn't resist. Just humor, kids. No slight on West Virginians. :)

I have this software and LC 's mesh and it has been the only place I fly in for the last few months. Scenery is great and the mesh brings new life to WV's rolling hills. Can't wait to reinstall everything, just not looking forward to it. Had to call MS to reactivate fsx for some reason after doing a defrag, online support was able to uninstall and got reactivated, unfortunatlely, they found my addon scenery installed on another drive and deleted that for me as well, gee thanks, they sure are through. Had scenry up to 223 over the last four years now have to reinstall everything, I wonder if it is worth it sometimes.

You get the same sort of view flying over Norfolk here.
