Vietnam for CFS2 Beta Release

Tango's A1H Skyraider

Sandy is now ready for download.
I find it odd that so many think Vietnam was a jet war when over
3/4 of all missions were flown in props.

Hey Guys,

I just talked to John on the land line, I guess my snail made made it after all.

What he really needs is a copy of Service pack 3 for XP, he is going to try
downloading Firefox to see if he can get back on line.

In the mean time, Any help with service pack 3 much appreciated.

I can copy and snail mail if required,

Dave

I MAY have it. I did some look around and at one time MS put up SP3 update as an ISO file. An ISO is format that can be burned to a CD and when done gives you a CD and in this case it is a update CD. MS since killed the page but I jumped onto the WaybackMachine and it looks like WaybackMachine saved the SP3 update ISO.

I'm donwloaded the SP3 update ISO. Its got 30 mins on the download. I know years ago I burned 2 ISOs to CDs. (Command & Conquer: Tiberium Dawn when EA made it freewere) If it dose fully download I will try to burn it to CD so it can be snail mailed. Also will post the WaybackMachine link.

I'm doing the download using IE8 that should be on John PC. If not let me know as I do have the IE8 install file on my PC already. I can burn it to a data disk as well.

Edit:
I got the ISO by starting here. http://web.archive.org/web/20120428...soft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=25129 I clicked on the Download button. On the next page I click on small blue "Start download" text and dlownloaded the ISO. I also burrned it to disk.

Will mail.

I pretty sure this is what he needs. The old MS page says it is but not 100% sure as I can't test it as I have SP3 already on my XP (did see the autoplay welcome screen that the disk wanted to install SP3) and I couldn't get the ISO from MS but the WaybackMachine is prob the next best thing as its goal is to archive web pages so unlike other places it is unlikely that the WaybackMachine would have messed with the ISO to add nasty bugs or make a fake ISO.

Tell him to hold on! What he need should be on the way soon.

Looking for Railroad track objects for mission builder, seems I saw that Gius had made some,

any help much appreciated.

=====================================

Try this: http://filehippo.com/download_windows_xp_service_pack_3/tech/

If that doesn't work, I have copies of Windows XP Pro SP2 (w/SP1) and SP3 in Windows self-extracting file format.
I copied them to my SSD back in 2012.

Thank you Gerald,

If it is a zip format, I would love to put in storage for myself and others, as our old XP's expire.

If they require copy to CD, please contact me dea14u@aol.com I will be more than happy to cover
all associated costs.

Not sure how long we can keep these old rigs running, but what the hell...lets give it a shot.

Much appreciated sir,

Dave

Dave:

Did you try the link to the FileHippo.com website? I found it by Googling the KB numbers of the updates, which I had.
If they have SP3, they most likely have SP1&2 also.

The SP1&2 pack is KB835935-SP2-ENU (266 MB) and the SP3 pack is KB936929-SP3-X86-ENU (316 MB).

My copies of these SP's are self-extracting Windows .exe files (not in .zip format). I saved the EXACT files that I downloaded at the time from Microsoft in 2012. It appears that FileHippo.com is storing these in the same format. It would be the quickest way if you and your friend could download from there or another site.

If this doesn't work for you, let me know and I'll burn the .exe files to CD for you.

I ran across some Riverine Tango Boats by Mark Walsh, it refers to:
CFS2 'Tango' Class US Navy boats as used in the Riverine campaign in Vietnam.

I have searched and failed, any one know of these missions ??

I went looking for those missions or any files relating to them about 5 months ago but found nothing. I emailed Mark Walsh at his hotmail address provided in the readme file of the Riverine download about them but heard nothing back. It's a shame since it appears from the screenshot he included in his file that he at one point had a full set of monitors in addition to the Tango Class helo-capable LCM's.

As a side topic on the Vietnam Campaign, does anyone know if there is a CFS2 variant of the AD-5/A-1E Skyradier which had the side-by-side seating arrangement?

Hi No Dice,

I tried converting the Alpha B-52. Its an odd one. There is a wing flex animation that is tied into the compression movement of the landing gear. In Fs9 it works good. In CFS2 it shows the movement...oh lets say "very jittery".

Also when the landing gear is retracted the main wings hold the upward flex. It looks similar to a flying sea gull.

Is there another you might have in mind?

Dv

Thanks for trying DV..........

I have had one on hold that I will post shortly.

I have been attempting to add a bomb view much like your camera view in the voodoo.

I may just release it to fill the gap in the AC collection, and come back to it later.

Stay in touch sir, you do great work.
