Okay WarHawk;

Using Google and the key words CFS2 Viet Nam Scenery, here's what I found. I'm pretty sure that MaskRider has done Meshes for this area, but couldn't find them on short notice ~ Good Hunting !

Vietnam Scenery

Ian Elliot made three or four USAF bases for South Vietnam.

Look at the larger sim sites for:

Tan Son Nhut
Bien Hoa
Da Nang
Cam Rahn Bay

During my tour in VN, I flew out of all four of those bases.

The Editor made a nice SAM 2 site. Search for: sam_site.zip

In addition to the above, our inveterate tinkerers and experimenters, Tango Romeo and the Rockster all made SAMs and SAM sites for Vietnam. These files should be available here.

The Dirtman and his crew of skalleywags are busy making the ultimate CFS 2 Vietnam add on extant. There are a few threads on it here in the forum. It will add all kinds of new infrastructure, land class and aircraft.

Over on Simviation, there is a pack by Steve McClelland called CFS2 Far East or something like that. It will add bases in Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and other areas....lots and lots of bases. There is a fix pack to fix some of the Korea bases.

Let me go to SimV and find links for ya. Be back in a few.

These are not destroyable bases, but go give pretty good frame rates. And Tango Romeo did a GPS gauge with all the Korea and Vietnam bases entered into it. I have used this GPS gauge on some of the Korea and Vietnam era jets that I have done panel sets for.

McClleland Far East

- This scenery is the basis for and is included in the F4 Korea Packs. He does include a nice selection of bases in Vietnam. All of the bases feature refueling and RDF, and are accurately located.

- The bases do not include destroyable infrastructure, but are simple enough that you can add your own objects to fleshout the locations.

- The transparent grass or translucent grass textures also available in My Stuff (link below) make a great great addition to the scenery from the standpoint of 'blending' the bases into the scenery mesh. Kelti did the textures....I just posted them.

- You will also find a Korea/Vietnam GPS gauge in My Stuff (link below) that contains all of McClleland's Korean and Vietnam bases.

- Steve's scenery has been around for quite awhile (available at SimV along with a small update a couple of pages later in the scenery section) and is frame-friendly.
