Viking Air delivered its latest Twin Otter aircraft last weekend at the FIDAE Air and Space Fair in Santiago, Chile.
It's been a swift start to the year for Viking, the Sidney company behind the reinvention of the legendary de Havilland airplane. Late last month, the company delivered a Twin Otter to Petro Air of Libya and completed a successful tour of Asia while delivering another to a mining company company in Papua, New Guinea.
Viking currently has a production backlog order of 55 planes worth more than $350 million. The base price for a plane is $6.5 million - although the cost is higher as options are added - and Viking's 450 staff at Victoria International Airport and 200 at a final-assembly line in Calgary are working at full capacity.
