Vipers visiting vegas

I've uploaded a vid to youtube. I've uploaded a 720i (HD) wmv file, and that should give a HD option altgough i dont see that appearing. (if someone know how to add that please tell me).

The movie is taken north of Las Vegas in the F-16 by aerosoft and repaints of Yago 9. I used tileproxy, but in dusk details are lost a little hence the screenshots on the end.

Yup, watched in HD, nice video, thank you. :applause:

Can I suggest in future using the Space bar and mouse to move the camera around, rather than your Hat switch? The motion of the camera would be much smoother then.

Great job. Those birds sure are pretty. You can also make a camera view that can lock onto you. We had made a airshow camera for pensacola where the view locks onto the flight lead gives it that feel its from somebody right in the crowed. Great job on the video tho. Man the sky looked real. Is it REX?

Many thanks for that hint! i realized when i uploaded how "shocking" the camera movement was.

In fs9 you could replace the tower view and get the same effect, for some reason this is not possible via the map view anymore. I liked that in Fs9 especially for landings. The sky indeed is REX

Nice videos, and I love that tile proxy. Do the FSX runways overlay on the photoreal tiles, or are the runways the ones that were captured in the satellite photos?

Depends per airfield, usually the major ones are aligned. Smaller airfields are missaligned more often. I dont really bother since 99% of the scenery is as real as it gets.

Getting different tower views in FSX

Hello MESO,

There's a new way of getting different tower views in FSX. As you know, in FS9 you moved the tower icon around in Map view. In FSX you have to first create a "Saved Flight" or FLT file of the area you want the views to be in. Then you open the FLT file with a text editor and add fixed camera entries like this:

[CameraDefinition.001]
Title = Fixed Camera 1
Guid = {835BFC1C-1A03-994A-A176-49318FEB094E}
Description = Placeholder description
Origin = Fixed
InstancedBased = No
SnapPbhAdjust = None
PanPbhAdjust = Swivel
Track = Track
ShowAxis = No
AllowZoom = Yes
InitialZoom = 4.0
SmoothZoomTime = 1.0
ShowWeather = Yes
XyzAdjust = True
Transition = Yes
ShowLensFlare=FALSE
Category = Custom
FixedLatitude=N46.445267
FixedLongitude=W63.831362
FixedAltitude=6.0
InitialPbh=0, 0, 0

Each camera you add needs a unique GUID number and the Lat and Long. Notice that those co-ordinates are in decimal degrees. If your lat was N45degrees 30.00 minutes you'd enter N45.5

You can have as many fixed views as you have the patience to enter.

Then when you go back into the sim, you fly that saved flight. Under the view menu there will be a new entry called Fixed views, select one of the custom views you made and you have your new,custom tower view.

Excellent video.

It brought back memories of Red Flag exercises back in the 1980s.
