Virtavia A-4 repaint question

Duckie

SOH-CM-2024
Can any one tell me where the Landing Gear shock struts are located on the texture sheets.

There is a texture sheet named oleo with a single short metal cylinder but I can't tell that it is being used.

As always, thanks for the help,
Steve

I painted the two A-4F schemes in the Virtavia A-4 package but they used the common gear textures so I never had to know.
What you might do is what I do when I don't know where something goes. Paint that texture you're referring to with something
bright like orange or pink and see where it shows up.

Hey Frank, thanks for the reply. I did exactly that and the "oleo" texture is it. It is in the shared folder.

I'm still getting used to FSX and it's in effects. The in game shadowing seems very odd (self shadow is off). It seems way overdone and casts some very odd and distracting shadows.

The oleo strut, with added alpha texture, has a good shine/reflection to it on the sunny side, but on the shady side of the strut it appears dead flat monotone gray. I've looked at few other a/c and they all seem to suffer from the same fate. Unfortunately the A-4's nose gear strut is probably one of the longest, most exposed struts on any aircraft!

Oh, well! Win some, lose some.

Very nice paints on the F, BTW.

Thanks again for taking the time to offer a tip.

Steve
