Virtavia/AlphaSim service!

Last night, after getting home from a short shift, I had time to do a bit of flying in FS9. The plane I picked was the freeware Alphasim F-80 Shooting Star. As I was flying around, looking at the VC and the externals, I began thinking that the F-80 could use some TLC. And I knew that I had the original Alphasim supplied paint kit for the plane.....so I started looking for it. Could not find it. After some thought, it dawned on me that I had the paint kit saved to CD....and I recently went through my closet and cleaned it out, getting rid of all the stuff in there that I did not actually use.....and part of the stuff that went was all of my old CFS2 and CFS3 disks, all of my old back up discs...including the ones I had my paint kits backed up on....and thus the paint kit for the F-80 had gone to the landfill.

I thought that it was a long shot, but I sent an e-mail to the tech support desk at Virtavia, asking if they still had the F-80 paint kit on hand. Less than an hour later, I had a reply from Phil informing me that he had uploaded the paint kit to the Virtavia/Alphasim freeware site and that the kit was the second one down on the Paint Kits page.

Now in my book....that is customer service. I was NOT a paid customer, so they had not gained one penny of revenue from me. I approached them asking about something free to use on something they had given me for free....and was given a rapid reply and that free thing I was asking for was uploaded so I, and the rest of the world, could easily access it.

Once I get my car all fixed up and rolling right....I will take a chunk of one or two of my paychecks and show my appreciation to Virtavia/Alphasim by finally purchasing a plane or two from them. Have had my eyes on the F-106 for some time now....and I'm sure there is something else they have for FS9 that I can spend time enjoying.

It's always good to remember that there are nice people out there, very likely in droves that just get overlooked. We, myself included, will quickly voice complaints about this and that but I also try to point out "good deed doers" too. I know this can be demoralizing, highlighting what should be common place, but it just can't hurt to throw out an atta boy when you see it needs throwing. Might even check the balances and surf over there myself.

I've bought over a dozen aircraft from AlphaSim/Vitavia and they have always been superb in helping me or simply answering the dumb questions I always seem to ask. I think the first aircraft I bought from them was the B-36. A great model!

My first payware model was purchased from AlphaSim, and I've been a repeat customer many times over. I like everything about Virtavia/AlphaSim planes and their purchase/install process, no PITA anti-piracy stuff, no stubborn installers that think they know better than you how the plane should be installed, and nice easy to operate aircraft. I'm not one of those that likes to fly with an open flight manual balanced on my lap. The one time I had a question Phil personaly emailed me in less than an hour with a complete and polite answer. Much better service than some other vendors I could name.

I would like to add another "atta boy."

I've had the same kind of pleasant experiences with AlphaSim/Virtavia. :medals:

Like PF my first payware purchase was also from AlphaSim (now Virtavia) and have made many more since then. I've always received good support and quicks responses from Phil and crew. We are often too quick to post the standard "how come" and "why don't" gripes and other complaints, but neglect to post favorable comments when we receive good customer service.

One of my very early (2nd) payware purchases was their F7F Tigercat quickly followed up by their Constellations. Never had a bit of problem out of them.

Downloaded that P-80 paintkit myself yesterday when I went looking for the B-1 kit. Didn't know that it had just been put up there.

ill throw in,,,i have many paid for planes from alphasim, and when i upgraded to FSX from FS9,,being an idiot,i thought id have to repurchase,i sent Phil and email about some sill question and he informed me that all of my purchases, had FSX updates,or seperate downlaods alltogether and i did not have to pay for them,,,he took the time to look MY info up and inform ME of my account...ive bought more planes since and will continue to in future,,cant say enouh nice things about that group over there...

Same experience as above...good folks! Have more AS planes in the hangar than I can remember ! Always felt that AS filled a niche with good looking a/c of the type that weren't being produced for FS.

I haven't purchased that many add-ons for a couple of years now from any developer but I puchased lots of Alphasim aircraft in the days before they became Virtavia and always found their service to be excellent. Phil was always quick to respond to emails. I used to like their forum and was sorry to see it go.

I used to go to Alphasim all the time, and always like flying their planes. I have not bought any of the new Virtavia products as of late, but good to see Phil is still around and working! I thought for sure when Alphasim disappeared that he had left the community for good.
