Have just uploaded this repaint to the file library, it includes two versions with 'early' and 'late' style tail fin markings. Search for "ra_b29_v_4224676_v1.zip"

Very nice paint! Thank you!!

Yesterday my wife said she saw the strangest looking plane with a big 'A' on the tail fly by her fifth story window at work in down town Modesto! Turned out it was the 'FiFi' heading up to Sacramento on tour. It had been at KMOD for three days and I didn't know :banghead:

Nice one Taff :encouragement: the ole two in one deal, did you have any reference from the period why and when markings changed, only a short time involved, with the limited books and photos I have here going from late 1944 and even some aircraft still had the early markings in May 1945.

Hi Ian, information is a bit sparse but I have a photo of her with the early markings which, according to a book I have, were in use between October '44 and March '45. The book indicates that the new single large-character fin markings were in use between April '45 and V-J day. I have been unable to find a photo of "Pride of the Yankees" wearing the new markings but do have photos of Z-23 "Ramblin Roscoe" dated April '45 (see below) and have assumed POTY Z-24 would have been similar in appearance.

Reviewing the above photos, particularly the last one, has convinced me to tweak my repaint. I've beefed up the Z a bit and have added subtle hints of the previous tail fin markings...

When I get the chance I will update and upload the revised textures to the library. In the meantime if anyone fancies a copy drop me a PM and I'll send you a link to them via email.
