Just purchased the Virtavia P5M today and think it is pretty cool.....

I like it too......it gets a lot of hours flying over the Pacific to the different atolls.

I really like the default paint schemes that come with the package, and don't feel a need to create any repaints of my own. I did however upload an alternate prop texture to the avsim library in case you are interested; info is in Post #42 of the following thread: Here

I also have the Virtavia R3Y Tradewind, but that one has taken a while for me to warm-up to. But it is fast for a flying boat, and how can you not like a contra-rotating turboprop.....:encouragement:

On my computer the P5M seems to be a bit more FPS friendlier than the Tradewind, but then again, I've got an older computer.

P5 Engine sounds

Which R-3350 engine sounds are better? Looking for better R-3350 engine sounds. I sort of like the stock P2V engine sounds.

If you like the P2V engine sounds better, you can alias them to the P5M for the time being.

I haven't done any research on alternate R-3350 sound sets, so I can't help you there.

Where can I get this texture?....

That might be Mr. Ito's FS2004 model and texture, in which case that texture won't work with Virtavia's FSX model. I'm not aware of any repaints Virtavia's Marlin as the paint kit was only recently released.

On the Virtavia website.....

In their freeware section, there is a folder named Paint Kits at the top of the list.

The link below is a direct link to the Marlin paint kit.

I am not comfortable with creating and or modifying bump map or spec map files......I think you will be seeing less and less third party repaints for these newer FSX releases.....:dizzy:
