Virtavia: Pigs will fly again

hschuit

SOH-CM-2024
Looks like 2012 will be the year the F-111 will again roam the (FSX) skies! I was already following the progress of the F111-FSX.com project F-111E for some time now and yesterday Virtavia opened up their website again with the fantastic news they are working on multiple variants of the Pig :applause::applause::applause::

"Virtavia's new FSX F-111 package is close to release. The cockpit modelling is now complete. Click the link below to view screenshots and see the specs of the new package. Pictures of the exterior will be posted in 1-2 weeks. - includes four distinct variants : FB-111A, F-111F, F-111G and the EF-111A Raven."

Well, Well,...indeed!

I was a dyed in the wool fan-boy of "Alphasim" back in the day. My last purchase was their H-60 Black Hawk. The VC pics do look just as good as the http://www.f111-fsx.com/ version, and they are going to have [4] versions including a good old Pave Tac version! Now it's just a matter of price point. Are we going to get "Accusim, PMDG, etc; etc," systems integration & management ???

YYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSS!

I loved the old AS F-111; it was the first add-on I bought. I'll pick up the new Virtavia F-111 once it's released.

EF-111A Raven.... :mixedsmi:

Very nice VC, however, it appears that they aren't including the ability to see any part of the wings or intakes from the cockpit.

Before anyone jumps on my statement and tells me that you can't see that stuff from the cockpit in real life, I happen to know that you can, from first hand experience of sitting in the FB-111A and the F-111D. Additionally, you can see those external parts without doing any unusual body contortions.

Comparing the screen shots of the Virtavia and FSX-F-111 VC's, I do not think these are the same projects at all. Both appear to be very high quality but there are significant differences in the modeling and textures of both VC's. The modeling of the Virtavia version appears to be nearly identical quality and modeling of the newer B-1B (which I own a copy of).

Bone is right about the VC of the Virtavia version. Having spent time sitting in several F-111's since the early 80's, when you look outside the cockpit, you see the wing, wing glove/glove vanes, etc. I hope that is addressed in the Virtavia version and from what I've seen of the FSX-F-111 they have that covered.

"Comparing the screen shots of the Virtavia and FSX-F-111 VC's, I do not think these are the same projects at all"

They aren't.

I've passed along the comments regrading the wing views.

Not the same version at all, that's for sure.

But it is very welcomed indeed.

Looks like a good year for the Vark fans.

My only regret is, no one seems to be releasing a C variant of this great strike aircraft.

All the same, i am still looking forward to both of them coming out.

Cheers.

Mal, thanks for clarification on that.

Are we going to get "Accusim, PMDG, etc; etc," systems integration & management ???

The answer is YES on the FSX-F-111 project(not sure how much will be covered on the Virtavia model). This from the FSX-F-111 Team:

We are continuing working on cockpit appearance and simulating of various systems. We have decided to make system’s controls more realistic and simulate several additional systems (like LCOS, Engine Feed system, Electric System, Aux Flight Controls etc) So, now almost all simulated systems will be based on real flight procedures.

All I want is a Spark Vark, it is the only one I like and I bet the pit isn't right too!
The EF-111A cockpit is as accurate as available documentation and photographs have allowed and since it is an older aircraft there is quite a bit available. The VC's were made by the same modeler who made the Virtavia FSX B-1B so there probably is a similar look and feel. He did a ton of research. There are four unique cockpits for the four unique models included. For personal reasons I had to step back from finishing the external textures but passed all the 2048x masters and reference materials back to Virtavia for completion.

I LOVE swingwings and together with the B1 I will be one happy simmer. The Alpha vr pit was one of the worst they ever released but I flew the snot outta that plane. However with most of their planes, the fps, unique aircraft and how quickly they were released made them my fav developer. Now I wished some of their sceneries, Nellis, Area51,Hollowman ect would be released again for FSX.

When when???????
