Landed at OPMR, a few miles west, by mistake...checked my location on landing, as a precaution, took off again and landed at OPKC, but the duenna had already recorded the landing at OPMR...I left it running, but am not sure whether it recorded the second takeoff and landing, might have to take the refueling penalty.

The Air Services Incident Report reads:
The crew, distracted by a book on military history and the muffled screams of a lady passenger, deviated from proper practices, made a significant navigational error and landed, without authorization, at a Military Airport 12 nm from it's intended destination. Obvious physical differences between the layouts of the two fields did not trigger adequate warnings to the crew prior to the landing and the aircraft made a full-stop. Upon realizing the error, the crew commenced an unauthorized takeoff without clearances and continued to the correct destination where a safe landing was made. Additional legal actions by the military authorities notwithstanding, the crew is liable for appropriate sanctions as follows - ... Company crew-training procedures may be subject to further investigation by this Board.
The usual "unprepared" penalty applies and the crew are lucky not to be rotting in a Pakistani Military prison alongside the bones of a supreme court justice. (Given that the Duenna records show the time OIZJ to OPMR, the aircraft should refuel and take off from OPMR (not OPKC) and continue on to the next destination.)

Hey Mike,

Are you sure about that? If i remember the rules right you can land anywhere and just not stop the duenna then takeoff continue and wouldn't be penalized.

If I read his text file right, his flight time was 2:56:21, if he didn't start rolling until 5:06:04 then that flight time puts it at 8:02:25 which was when he made the 2nd landing at OPKC.. I'm not sure why Duenna records the final destination at OPMR but his text file indicates that he landed, waited a couple mins (probably wondering where he was) then took off and flow over there and landed again.

His Duenna did not stop until after he reached OPKC.

Regards,

I (we) stand corrected. Excellent pick up Eamonn.

It appears that vW got that Ozark DC-3 off the tarmac before the Pakistani Military Police were able to catch him. Less than 2 minutes on the ground itself without really stopping. Congratulations to the pilot for quick reactions and a clean getaway!

Perhaps the vigorous exhortations of Ms. Winnie Cloud of Little Rock served some purpose after all.

The official investigation is closed. No penalty.

Great progress, vW. Ms. Winnie Cloud of Little Rock must be having the time of her life.
