The crew, distracted by a book on military history and the muffled screams of a lady passenger, deviated from proper practices, made a significant navigational error and landed, without authorization, at a Military Airport 12 nm from it's intended destination. Obvious physical differences between the layouts of the two fields did not trigger adequate warnings to the crew prior to the landing and the aircraft made a full-stop. Upon realizing the error, the crew commenced an unauthorized takeoff without clearances and continued to the correct destination where a safe landing was made. Additional legal actions by the military authorities notwithstanding, the crew is liable for appropriate sanctions as follows - ...
