:isadizzy: Must be over my head. I don't see anything unusual. Isn't that how everybody lives? I always did. :isadizzy:

Randolf AFB in San Antonio must be a beautiful base judging by the architecture in the photo. I used to go TDY to Camp Bullis northwest of San Antonio to use the 1,000 yard rifle ranges there for training. It was a slum compared to Randolf but I always enjoyed going there.

Are you TDY there or is this where you are now stationed?

Jagd,
Randolph is definitely one of the USAF's "show" bases. I'm actually TDY at Lackland though....

I remember Camp Bullis well though - had a wonderful ORI there in my first years in...

Most in the USAF get decent rental vehicles and accomodations. Our TDY commanders have been known to hook their crew chiefs up on TDYs before, partly for their own humor and partly so they get hooked up back when they come to get a jet. At the 2008 RIAT, I was checking into the Fairford base hotel when the major I was with turned to me and said "you ready sir"? I gave him a funny look and he gave me a big cheezball grin back. An armada of people grabed my bags and took them into my room, which was HUGE and deeee-luxe. I found out shortly thereafter that the Major had booked all of his crew chiefs as Lt Colonels.

Combat Comm not included though.....:bump:

It does help when the airshow authorities pay for your cars and hotels. They want us to come back at all costs. Sometimes the airshows that get support (and what level) are based on which treated us well last year. If there's budget, most requesters that have good attendance records will at lleast get a flyby, but noone's stopping or bringing crew chiefs unless they're nice.:icon_lol:
