VRS Superbug Requirements

I would be interested in getting the VRS Superbug, however their requirements are very dated; NO Windows beyond 7 (no Win10) and can't have any FSXSE beyond edition 10.0.62615.0. Let's me out on the face of it - BUT, have any of you actually tried to use the Superbug with either Win 10 or a more modern FSXSE? Results? Recommendations?

Bill

I run both Tacpack and the Superbug on a Windows 10 machine, except on P3D. The only problem I've encountered on the Windows 10 machine wasn't with either VRS products, it was with P3Dv3.4 CTD after a Windows 10 update.

I had the VRS F-18 in FSX:ACC and have moved on to P3Dv3 with it and will for sure install it in V4 when it comes available. Alot of our members use it in Steam and were happy with it till the latest snafu from microshaft with the win 10 updates. There are still some bugs with the steam version from what they've told me. The Bug is an amazing aircraft the best i've ever owned. along with VRS tacpac and FSX@War are a must have. I highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed

I still run FSX SE on Win10 as it can't handle P3D and Tacpack works perfectly fine. I'm not sure about the Superbug, I have it but I haven't installed it yet.

It seems to be working for me in P3D 3.4 with Tacpack and Win10. I have not really went into great depth with it though lately.

I don't know about the specific FSX-SE version requirements, but for the Superbug to work with SE, it also needs TacPack installed . It won't work without it.

Hi Dave,

I have an older version pf TacPack (1.4.2.7_FSX). I have never upgraded it because I really don't use its mainly weapons functions. Being retired Navy I generally fly out to the shio rather than "shoot or drop". Do you think I could use my existing TacPack version - or would I need to buy a new one?

As an alternative, if I may be so bold, you could use the FSDT FSX Blue Angels F/A-18C v17.1.31. It is TacPac enabled, but doesn't require it. You can use TacPac to set up a lot of different load-outs, like A-A, A-G (many variations), Clean, Training, etc etc etc. Each has different weight/drag configurations, for improved realism. It works great in FSX Acceleration, and FSX:SE, and doesn't seem to care which Windoze version you use. It's FCS and FDE are simply amazing, as are it's systems modeling. It is the closest to the real bird, according to several real-world Hornet drivers who were involved in it's testing and development. Add in AICarriers.NET, and vLSO, a real world weather program, and maybe the Pitching Deck program, and you have one of the most amazing Hornets available in the sim world. Next best thing to being there.I simply love this bird. I can't recommend it strongly enough. I can give you a link to it's download location, if you so desire. Same for the other programs, should you so desire.Just a suggestion. Sorry for hijacking...Have fun!Pat☺
