FSX TDS Boeing 787-8 Base Pack. This is the set of FSX model files for TDS (Tenkuu Developers Studio) B787-8. To use just replace the .mdl files which is in model folder; also sound in sound folder included. There are two types of engine for the 787, GENX and Trent1000. For use with base packTDS788TRENT_BOEING_N787BA.ZIP. By Tenkuu Developers Stuidio / Hiroshi

I have merged already to the Aerosim VC 787.

I am using the default Airbus A321 VC with no problem. I'm sure the glass instruments are entirely different but at least the control stick is in the right place. Be sure you have added the FSX update .mdl files or you can't alias any VC. (Oooppss, it's the 380 that has the control stick on the side console; the 787 has a standard control column.)

Best, Paul

That looks even better, I'm downloading as we speak. Thanks for the HU.

two questions..
Is anyone else getting black engines on the ana model and
2. Using alejandro's cockpit, is anyone having to manually set the trim even with the autopilot on??
Thanks
Pam

I'm certainly no expert on the 787, but i did take a look at the fde and many things about it seemed not quite the way they should be.. On the other hand, i couldnt tell you if they're right or not. I'm just plying a hunch by the way it feels in air.

Help !

I thought I could remember how to attach a "foreign" VC to an FSX model, but .....

Tried using the default 738 panel - works in 2D mode, no show in VC form - suspect its something to do with Aircraft.cfg file entries: can anybody give an idiot's guide to doing this properly - I suspect I'm not alone in my ignorance !

How to merge a VC from another aircraft

1. Go to the "FSX\Simobjects\airplanes\(your VC choice)\model" folder and copy the file "(your VC choice)_interior.mdl"
to the "FSX\Simobjects\airplanes\(your exterior model)\model" folder.

2. Open the "model.cfg" in the "(your exterior model)\model" folder and add the line

'interior=(your VC choice)_Interior'.

3. Copy all VC textures from the "(your VC choice)\texture" folder to the "(your exterior model)\texture" folder.

4. Copy the "panel.cfg" from the "(your VC choice)\panel" folder and paste it in the "(your exterior model)\panel"
folder, replacing the original one.

.....and that's all there is to it.....

Hopefully an adding a VC idiot's guide for you sir!

I've used the default A-321 VC as a guide but the same steps will work for the default B737-800...

There are three basic steps. We need to add the A321 VC interior model to the B787 model folder, alias the default A321 textures for the B787 VC and adjust the eyepoint in the B787 aircraft.cfg so we're sat in the captains seat!

** 1 **

First, copy / paste your default Airbus_A321_interior.mdl file from your FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\Airbus_A321\Model folder to your FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\TDS788TRENT_BOEING_N787BA\model folder.

Now, open up the model.cfg file [in your TDS788TRENT_BOEING_N787BA\model folder] using notepad and add the 'interior model' details as follows:

[models]
normal=TDSX788TRENT.MDL
interior=Airbus_A321_interior.mdl

Hit Save [not Save As] and overwrite the original.

** 2 **

Second, copy / paste the texture.cfg file from your FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\Airbus_A321\Texture folder to your FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\TDS788TRENT_BOEING_N787BA\texture folder.

Next, open up the texture.cfg file [in your TDS788TRENT_BOEING_N787BA\texture folder] using notepad and edit to read as follows:

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\..\Airbus_A321\Texture
fallback.2=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture
fallback.3=..\..\..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture

This will alias the default A321 VC textures to the VC model you just added in ** 1 **.

** 3 **

Third, because the A321 VC model is in the wrong position relative to the B787 exterior model, we need to adjust the pilot 'eyepoint' to suit the A321 VC...

So, open the aircraft.cfg file [in your TDS788TRENT_BOEING_N787BA folder] using notepad and scroll down to the [Views] section. Edit the eyepoint details as follows:

[Views]
eyepoint=38.50, -2.30, 4.25

Finally, start FSX and try out the VC for size!

There are other ways of doing this but I've tried to do this as simply as possible.... Hope it works for you!!

p.s.

If you also want the default A321 2D panel, just rename the TDS788TRENT_BOEING_N787BA panel folder to something like panel_old, then copy / paste the Airbus_A321\panel folder in to your TDS788TRENT_BOEING_N787BA folder.

p.p.s

Oops - sorry Dave, you beat me to it :running:

Tried both posted methods of merging the B737_800 VC to the TDS_ B787AB and am ending with the entire cockpit module sitting on the runway alone - doesn't display with the 787. Investigation of the module reveals it's the whole thing - panels, seats etc but none of the avionics are 'on'. It gets airborne using the 787 but never attaches. The 737_800 default VC is the updated version by 'Alrot'.View attachment 89432View attachment 89433

I'm thinking olderndirt a viewpoint adjustment might be needed for the VC. I haven't tried the moded 737 VC, only the Aerosim. Usually in cases where the VC is viewable as your pic is, it means a Views-point adjustment needed.

I used eyepoint=38.0, -1.86, 4.2 successfully with the A321 VC. The 737 would be different, but it might be a good starting point.

Best, Paul
