*** ! Wal-Mart no longer has FSX

Helldiver

Charter Member 09
I went into Wal-Mart yesterday to return a defective copy of FSX and found out I could not get a replacement. I was given a "Gift Certificate" They were told to send them all back to Microsoft.
What gives here?

Walmart's PC game section is moving more and more to online. Expect the way video games are bought to basically follow the same fate as Blockbuster - every year more are getting their video games by way of instant, downloadable content rather than a trip to the store and buying a physical boxed game. In the long run, I think this is very good for developers.

You can see it here at Walmart:

Scott.

Wow Scott, i did not know that. Thank you for that insight!

@Helldiver, did you have a copy of FSX Standard or Deluxe?

It was the standard version. I bought the Acceleration as a separate program.
I kind of wished I had bought it as one program.

Some of the Walmarts around here don't have anything in the way of software anymore.

Its going away from being a physical product since so many people have access to high speed internet.

As stated earlier in the thread the FSX Gold addition is far cheaper than the buying it piece meal.

I remember when I bought fsx back In 2007, it cost me £50 from HMV and when I upgraded to acceleration that cost me £27 from Game I wish I hadn't payed that much because it's just so much cheaper now!

FSX Gold Edition's price ranges from $42.81 to $59.12 here in Canada.

Every time I went in Walmart, I always headed first to the back Electronics department to see what new Game titles were out, check prices, etc.. EVERYTIME!!!!

Several months ago, Wallyworld executives decided to make the isle into one single section. Now its just Warcraft, the Sims, the $9.99 titles in the small CD cases, and a couple of others. No more rich selections of games.

Sometimes I catch myself heading to Electronics, and remember 'its not there bill!!! its no longer there....'

Of all the stores to take out such games and titles, you would think it would be someone else.

At least Best Buy (sorry Moe) has some good titles still.

Will the future be just 'buying from the website directly'? Will we buy everything in downloads instead of in boxes?

Reminds me. Can we buy FSX and FS9 online? MS should consider there. They might find they can make a ton of money with purchasing downloads online....

Don't you have a Fry's Electronics down there, Bill? I could have sworn they had some AZ locations. Around here, they've got the biggest game section by far, including a lot of boxed titles for FS9/FSX.

Yep, we do. I think 3 locations, one about 7 miles from here. Amazing super stores.

I go to Wallyworld like every few days though. When I go into Fry's, my wallet gets attacked, losing weight and power. I get soooooooooooo tempted there... aarrgh..
