• Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

Wanna see what else we can screw up

I'll stick with FF for now..... :karate:

About 6 or so years ago when I was in CCNA classes one of the long time techies turned me onto to Copernic.

As soon as I slapped that puppy on top of IE I was hooked and have never gone back. I've become so dependant on it when tooling around the internet that it drives me nuts when I try to work on or use a computer that doesn't have it installed.

Here's an old review that's still poking around.

strange thing is I am running Windows 7 Beta and it has a beta version of IE8. I downloaded IE8 RC1 and tried to install it. Got a message saying it is not supported by my system. Strange.

Cheers
Pat

The only thing I use IE (any flavour) for is to download off MS's site where sometimes validation is required and I have never figured out if it is possible to set up Firefox to do this.

yes, it can be done. visit their website, they have a walk thru on how to do it

Microsoft provides a Plugin for Firefox to perform WGA validation. It works the same as other style or functional Mozilla plugins (CookieSafe or NoScript for example).

If you open this Microsoft URL in a Firefox browser you should get two "Save File" pop-ups,

www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/Instructions.aspx?displaylang=en&s=ci,cn&cnt=1

one for Windows Genuine Advantage and one for Office Genuine Advantage.

One pop-up window may hide the second so you'll have to move the top one with your mouse.

WGAPluginInstall.exe
OGAPluginInstall.exe

You'll want to save them to disk, then open them with an unzipper (WinZip, 7Zip, WinRAR), so you can see what's inside, then you can extract two files.

For WGAPluginInstall:

npLegitCheckPlugin.dll
nsILegitCheckPlugin.xpt

The .dll file goes into C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins

The .xpt file goes into C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components

-- substitute your Firefox install path as appropriate,
-- running the .exe installer will do this for you if you don't want to go through the mechanical details yourself

I believe there are some bugs with the plugin working with Firefox 3, or the 3 beta. It is working OK with my FF 2.0.0.20, although I do have to reload validated MS download pages sometimes. Manage the plug-ins in Firefox under Tools>Add-ons.

Firefox here too!

Firefox and Netscape 3.01 used exclusively here....

Yes, that's NS 3.01....I use it for access to nntp forums...
fast and unencumbered by 'frills'... :)

I have only used IE when a site doesn't accept Firefox,
which is fortunately very rare these days...
