This just went out on DVD last week. 'Wall-E'

Best darn movie I have seen in a while.

I havent laughed that hard in ages, and it attempted to pull tears as well, but I fought it hard.. Wont say if the movie was successful or not, but I fought it. :d

Got it already Bill. :d And yes it is good, and cute too. Tho I've had to watch it 3 times to see it all.... I've fallen asleep each time while watching it. :costumes:
 
I went to the theatre with the kids to watch it. The kids enjoyed much more than I did. I really wasn't in the movie going mood that night though. I am sure I will get a chance to see it over and over again as soon as the kids get the DVD.
 
Might eventually pick this up on BluRay. I still don't have any Pixar movies on BluRay yet.
 
yeah, not a bad movie, but definitely not my favorite from Pixar. Their formula is starting to repeat too much...hehe

- Introduce character without parents (Nemo, Buzz Light Year, Cars, Monster's Inc, etc)
- Character gets lost or is alone (Toy story, Monster's Inc, Nemo, Wall-E, etc hehe)
- Find a friend who boosts their moral and make them realize their own faults (Dorian, Woody, the Old Truck, The Monsters, etc)
- Solve personal problem by conquering own fear (I'm a monster, I'm a toy, I'm a fish, I'm a car, etc)
- Then solve the bigger picture and save the day

ahah, dont get me wrong..i love pixar and all my friends working there. Hopefully their next "secret" project will be cool...i know they have some super pros working on it.

I loved Wall-E. Watched again last night. Tons of cool SciFi bits to keep my mind growing, tons of things to laugh about... It does remind me of ET alot though, (ALOT....) like when he's carrying around that plant, and some of his noises he makes.. Just like ET. But, he's Wall-E.


The thing that gets me is the relationships with Walmart! B&L seems to be a super store that takes over the world, taking over the United Nations, turning the world into stores. Wall-E even sounds like Walmart. The cruise ship is similar to how their stores have all the flat screen TV's in them, going on about advertisements, etc. Scary.... :kilroy:


Great movie though. And Walmart isnt making space craft liners.. yet.. so we should be safe. for a while... :d

We're well on the way to "Wall-E" world, with the rampant obesity and the Earth as a giant landfill. I live in Niagara Falls, where you can see the chemical contaiment tips, which sort of resemble step pyramids. I walk in the park as often as possible during the summer and every day you see half-emptied plastic bottles of water and sports drinks standing up in the fields where people have left them, and even more bottles floating in the creek. This is nothing against my home town in particular; I've seen the same thing in other places, just my own personal observation. Whoever wrote this movie knew something about science; there are little things like the diagram in the Captain's quarters showing the effects on bone density of being in a low gravity environment long term. (Forgive me; one of my flight sims is Orbiter.) I've written some scientist friends of mine asking what would happen to a plant even briefly exposed to a deep space vacuum, but they haven't answered me yet.

Just watched it yesterday, as a matter of fact. Every member of the family enjoyed it. Best computer graphics to date - can it get any better than that?

You will not regret it, it has a good story and the picture and sound are among the best I have seen and heard so far from any animated movie. My kids have the DVD which is also very good quality, but the blu-ray is a big step up. The video is flawless and the 5.1 DTS-HD Master lossless audio is about as good as it gets.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

"The Dark Knight" on blu-ray is among the best non animated movies I have seen and heard on our home theatre so far. The picture smoothly shifts between 2.4:1 and 1.78:1 aspect ratio and the parts filmed with the IMAX cameras have lifelike detail and depth. The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio is rich with LFE content and will shake your seat.

Whatever you do, don't buy this in foolscreen if you are buying the DVD. Buy the widescreen version so you can see the whole movie as it was intended to look. At least for now, the blu-ray movies released so far are all in or close to the original aspect ratio as they appeared in theatres.<o:p></o:p>

If you have an HDTV upgrading to a blu-ray player will give all the resolution you paid for. Don't get me wrong, upconverted DVD can look very good, but it is not High Def and is not even close to what the blu-ray format is capable of.

Barry, I STILL have to argue with certain of my realtives that you're actually seeing MORE of the original film cut in widescreen than in fullscreen.

Yep, I have no desire to see Wall-E, especially after hearing about it's intended underlying message. I'm sure there will come a time and I'll end up renting it though.

Funny how all my friends are going crazy over Dark Knight right now. I disliked it at the theater and even though I have all the batmans on DVD, I doubt I'll be getting this one, not superheroy enough and to much dark drama for my tastes.
 
Not much on Batman. I did just see Ironman today though and liked it.

My daughter turned 18 a few months ago. Somehow I don't see her wanting to watch Wall-E

LOL, made up word! I want my super hero to be just that, not a fallible human that has to deal with drama and issues like the rest of us, at least not while he is in superhero mode. Basically I want to see him kick butt and take names when wearing his cape.

When I saw dark Knight at the theater, I felt as if batman was never really in control, always worrying about his role and when/if he could stop and found myself alway worrying about him hurting himself. They made it seem like the Joker was the real hero and that bothered me. Even though Ledger did a fine job at his role, he had way to much focus/control and dynamic on screen.

I thought ironman was fantastic and was a perfect combination of human/superhero mix on screen.

I see. I just wanted to know what you meant. I liked both Iron Man and Dark Knight. I thought the choice of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark was particularly inspired. What I'm tired of are pretty boy brooding vampires. Give me my Christopher Lee any day, biting bosomy wenches in the throat and NOT apologizing.
