Want To Start WWII FS2004

Hi: I have a wild hair and need some advice...I have installed a clean, virgin, untouched version of FS2004 onto a separate hard drive...I want to create a WWII scenario in this install of FS2004...(Not combat)...I plan on having WWII airfields, AI WWII planes, vehicles, etc...I need some advice on how to begin...Are there any sceneries that will add many airfields at once or will I have to do it individually? Can anyone recommend a good series of WWII sceneries to use? I hope you get the idea of what I want to try to do...Thanks for the help!

First you should decide, which period and which theater of war you want to re-create. For the European theater of war, start with the scenery by WWII scenery by Ian Elliot and Cees Donker.

There are quite some UK bases, but there is hardly any German or Italian scenery. In the past Lionheart Creations had a nice adventure package "Valkyrie" which included some nice Axis scenery, but I think this is no longer available.

Cheers,
Huub

Lionheart's "Operation Valkyrie" is still available to purchase at Simmarket. Used in conjunction with FSGW and Ian Elliot & Cees Donker's wonderful airfields it forms the core of my own hybrid Golden wings/WW II installation. Also worth checking out a few goodies from Gary Burns (some nice RAF airfields of the period) and John McKeon (some vintage London airports, Tangmere and Brooklands/Wisley) at Flightsim.

I've not yet worked on areas outside of Europe, but I dimly seem to recall that there were some pretty good sceneries of Pacific airbases - DBWsim?

I've been fiddling on and off with something similar. The Pacific War rages in my Golden Wings and eventually the southeast of England will also be at war.

The Donationware F4U Corsair package, available here at SOH, includes two very nice American air bases in the Solomons.

Bill Lyons' Classic Goose package includes a couple of Japanese bases in the Marivellas - plus the fictional Marivellas Islands themselves. It's supposed to represent a slightly pre-war time period, as in the late lamented Cutter's Goose TV series, but the AI Bettys and Zeroes are of wartime vintage.

There is a nice Midway scenery with both pre-war and wartime options (can't recall who made it.) There's also a scenery of the Marianas in 1945, complete with AI B-29s (can't recall who did that one either.)

In addition to the British bases mentioned by others, there's a scenery of the USAAF base at Middle Wollop, England included with Dave Eckerts' Martin B-26 Marauder.

Someone released flak over Germany, and again I don't remember who.

There are a couple of RAF bases included in the first one or two updates to Golden Wings, complete with AI RAF Hurricanes and Spitfires in early wartime camo and markings.

Everything I've mentioned came from either FlightSim.com, AvSim, SimV or here, since those are all the sites I get stuff from.
