Wanted! Royal Navy repaint for Just Flight Tiger Moth.

the 'tail code' letter, for this Tiggie was grey as you've correctly done. Where as other ones were in Dayglo orange; maybe 714s came off leaving the adhesive behind?

That is also my interpretation/educated guess. I'm going to have the starboard side dayglo and the port side a weathered grey.

Andy

Hi Andy,

I think that you'd better do it grey BOTH sides for this aircraft Mate; I've just found a starboard side colour photo of XL714 showing just that, grey on starboard as well!
I'll email you the photo!

Hi Andy,
I'm sure it's a case of no news is good news, BUT; how's she coming along?
Appetites are well and truly whetted, I can assure you!
Looking forward to the next stage,
Ttfn,

I did those pesky elevators yesterday. Now I just need to do the bit you haven't seen yet... the bottom of the fuselage...

Andy

Hi Andy,:wavey:
How are things coming along in the Tiger Moth hangar? No news is good news I hope?
Don't forget to let me know about the Gliding Club photos you want taken Mate!
Look forward to an update on things,
All the Best,
ChipShop:encouragement:

Hiya Andy:wavey:,

Not heard from you in quite a while!

We're all wondering how the Tiger Moths are progressing? It'd be great to hear from you and of course to see/enjoy, the finished results of your hard work!

Hope all's Ok buddy,

Cheers for now,

ChipShop:encouragement:

Hi Guys, I wonder if anyone can help with this at all?

I would very much like to have a Royal Navy version of the Just Flight Tiger Moth; to represent an aircraft from the Royal Naval College Dartmouth, 'Britannia', Air Experience Flight, based at Roborough, Plymouth, UK.

The particular example that I am looking for is when they were in over all Silver, with Orange Dayglo stripes.

Pics of a model kit of this aircraft that I made, (other shots available):-

This was NL878 the last Biplane to fly from an aircraft carrier.

Now that's a really cool paint, I'd like to have that one myself!

I'm still around, just busy as hell, way more than anticipated. Thanks for your continued interest and support. I don't have a whole lot more to do to finish it, I just need the time. I hesitantly say later next week might provide an opportunity... watch this space...

Andy

Great news Andy; very glad all's well with you!
Certainly looking forward to seeing the end results👍😉
All the best Matey!

Hi Scratch,
Yep, I agree; I remember seeing these as a small boy!
Prior to this scheme, they wore the 'Empire' training scheme of all over silver with yellow wing and fuselage bands.
Cheers for now,
ChipShop👍😉

OK, after a reeeeeallllly long hiatus (longer than I ever imagined) I managed to get my teeth stuck into this repaint again! She is pretty close now. I'm away for a few days now (inc. for RNAS Yeovilton Air Day on Saturday :encouragement:) but when I get back I anticipate making a few variations on the FAA silver 'n' dayglo theme. In the meantime here are some screenshots.

Andy, she's absolutely gorgeous Mate!:jawdrop: Without a doubt the new set of clothes suits her very well!
Well done indeed:encouragement:
Oh yes!, and do take a brolly for Yeovilton; that part of Somerset seems to attract more than it's fair share of precipitating clouds!:biggrin-new:
Have a great time at the air show Mate,
Cheers for now,

Thanks for the comments shipmates! The forecast for Yeovilton is improving, but if it does get bad I'll just take my place in the FNHT Members tent and drink some Swordfish (rum infused ale)!

I'd swear the weather was always better when the Air Day used to be in September... the good old days!

Splendid stuff Andy, mine's a pint🍻

I found that the weather always improved the day after! LOL!
Have a good time all the same👍😉

Would you Adam 'n' Eve it, I've finished the repaint! Rather than wait any longer I'm going to publish this one on its own right away (don't hold your breath for any more...).

I'll be uploading here at SOH and also at All Nodes, but for now it can also be downloaded here:

... and here, for any computers which might complain about Mediafire...

I need to point out the textures are designed and optimised for Prepar3D, where the lighting and overall rendering are different (waaaay superior IMO). In P3D the silver finish and especially the dayglo (which changes colour according to lighting) are much better. In FSX you may find the dayglo rather stark and the silver may have a blue tint. The shots below are from Prepar3D. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Enjoy!
