Warbirding Over the English Countryside

Bomber_12th

SOH-CM-2025
Here are some screenshots from today.

First stop, I started out at Duxford and put some time on the The Fighter Collection's Harvard (despite the model itself being of AT-6G configuration).

Next stop, a jaunt over to North Weald to air test the Hangar 11 Collection's very original WWII-vet P-51D-20-NA (clouds continuing to build).

Dave, thanks! The cloud textures are REX, but for the weather engine I just use the FSX weather setup and set the cloud conditions to what I want. In this case, I used a raining, low stratus, set to 7/8. This will produce a dark cloud. I also added another layer of non-raining stratus above, set to 5/8, and this adds some clouds that are brighter, producing a nice contrast against the darker layer of clouds.

Kent, it is the Warwick Carter Texan, with a couple of repaints.

Until this weekend (which is a four-day weekend for me (one of the added perks of working for the education system)), I hadn't gotten a chance to do any flight simming for a couple of months, so I've been making up for that a bit over these last few days. ; )

Great Set John! I'm glad you posted these here, rather than in the FSX screenshots thread. It allows for some conversation regarding them, which I love. Especially when it's a nice set like these. I find the screenshot thread great, but less personal, and easily derailed from any kind of response.

I love flight plans with purpose! I just today took out "Little Lynn" from Desert Rock airstrip in NV, and created a "fictional" recon flight for finding what would later become Dreamland (A51). I recently found a photorealistic (albeit lower res) of the area...the actual scouting was done in an V-35 Bonanza...but...oh well!

these shots are fantastic. I love the open canopy gear down shots in particular!

John,
Can you provide download links for Harvard FE695 and the USN SNJ-3? Those are beautiful.

Superb screenshots John, as ever!

Your T-6 skins are real gems, it is always a pleasure to see them in the sim.

Owen.

Thanks, fellas! I should add that the recent update released for the Duxford scenery inspired me to do some of this flying as well.

TARPSBird, the T-6 repaints are a couple of the ones I released this past summer, which you can find here, at Flightsim.com, and at Avsim. Here's a list of all of the ones I have released so-far:

BTW, since making the repaint of Harvard Mk.4 N3405, which first flew earlier this year following a 10-year restoration, the aircraft won the "Reserve Grand Champion Post-WWII" award at Oshkosh this year, for quality, depth and authenticity of restoration. The highly polished N45CK was also sold to a new owner, since the time I made the repaint, and is now part of the Lyon Air Museum.

Here's another screenshot of the SNJ that I like:

John, thank you very much for the list of paints. :salute: That was "above and beyond" the call of duty for what I asked you but I'm sure all of us will want to browse the list and grab some that we don't have.

Next time I get a long enough break from work I hope to finish some more of the repaints I have for the Wozza T-6, including a few Texans of "No.1 BFTS" (British Flight Training Squadron), the first training squadron formed in the U.S. to train British pilots for combat flying, using the AT-6 Texan. This Squadron was located at Terrell Field, in Terrell, Texas. ; )

whats the latest news on the P-39 John?.....is it "taking a break"?

its great you are staying busy at work BTW....

Warbird Weekend!

Lovely shots John. Looks like you had some fun!

It seems I had the same idea as you and Portia911, and had a busy but fun time flying around the South of England.

On Saturday, a quick air test of an old airshow favourite, formerly of The Fighter Collection, ML417, Goodwood to Dunsfold.

Sunday Part 1

On Sunday, another Spitfire flight test from Goodwood, this time in NH188, in her rather different, but welcome, Canadian civil scheme form the early 1960's.

Sunday Part 2

For some reason, for the last few days or so, I've been in a 'Mustang Mood', so I decided to reacquaint myself with the WBS P-51B/C/Mustang IIIs', and look at some of my newly added repaints by the very talented Jan Kees Blom (does he ever stop? :icon_lol:), again over the lovely Sussex/Surrey countryside.

Up From Goodwood (again!)
