Warbirdsim Mustangs For FSX!

Not open for further replies.
The supercharger isn't in the list of functional VC controls. I know the manual mentions using the switch, but it is the exact text of the real P51C manual and "... has not been altered to allow for the fact that the aircraft does not have every single system working. So in some cases you will have to allow for this." Someone feel free to correct me, but I think the lack of a 'working' supercharger is more to do with FSX than Warbirdsim.

That is partly true. I don't believe there is XML code naturally supported for FSX, much less FS9, for a supercharger switch. You must write your own code to get it to work and unfortunately I am not that well versed in XML code - I can make any slew of movable levers or clickable switches, but most of them are left at that.

When people talk about full systems modeling, it rests on having someone that is a master at XML code, and certainly module files, and finding work-arounds to get items to provide certain results based on what FSX gives you. Items such as a working supercharger and hydraulic hand pump is on the list of items I'd like to work on creating, though it will take some more learning first - like most of this work, it isn't all talent and skill, but mostly knowledge of what to do and experience doing it. The supercharger switch itself, if left in auto as usual and is assumed that it is within the product, will not have to be manipulated, as the supercharger will adjust automatically depending on altitude. Between 20,000 and 20,500 ft, the supercharger high blower light should turn on, but doesn't - this is something that will definitely be addressed in the update.

Regarding this, will the soundpack be updated as well so that you hear the supercharger whistle as it kicks in at the appropiate altitude?

i would like to warn everybody: do not buy this very expensive add-on because, you buy it but it will never belong to you.
If, like me and a lot of people, you often have to make a clean instalation of FSX after it crash, you must to know that Warbirdsim don't want re-activate your purchase.
they are scammers and are very arrogant.
they say you have to pay for piracy of others, this is realy amazing!

I have a lot of add-on and some have to be activated on-line, but that never been a problem.

And sincerely, i think P-51 is just an average add-one and P-47 A2A really is by far better in every way and less expensive.

You have been warned....

You aint the only being being hosed by these people.

Seven days with no resolution and continued insults from customer support. Is this how Warbirds plans on continuing in this business? Let's get one thing straight I am not a "noob" at this and the continuing e-mails of insults degradation and insolence that I have received so far is not appreciated. I as a paying customer do not deserve this kind of treatment for a product I have purchased. I will answer the questions now as I received them:

1. In response to the statement written to me,

" You may not be aware but hundreds of thousands of people will be installing Windows 7 every day. Many of them will want new keys and many of them will want to be first to get them from sim sites like us."
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
Well as you may surmise from this statement as I did, hundreds of thousands of people did not buy this product, in fact I doubt a thousand did so this does not pertain to the original question. For the sake of argument, I have installed PMDG, CapSim, Flight1, Justflight, and A2A products on the OS without one problem incurred. Oh and the Araine 737 that Warbirds paid to them for their security. It's the same.
<o:p></o:p>
2.This was real good I am being threatened?
<o:p></o:p>
" If people are going to be unfair about the support aspect and not understanding (as you were on the forum making us out to be incompetent) simply because of Windows 7's release then we may charge for those people that want it "now"."
<o:p></o:p>
I have not posted one thing on the forums that insinuate anything close to what this statement reads. But yet you threaten me with a charge to reactivate a product I purchased that does not work and refuse to support it, I think you answered your own statement concerning incompetence.

<o:p></o:p>
3. This one was real good.

<o:p></o:p>
" Please think before you post and think before you get angry. There is always a very good reason for delays. Most times there are none at all."
<o:p></o:p>
Now this statement made me laugh, I am the paying customer, I am being told to THINK before I get angry? Oh I am not angry, Disgusted yes. Seven days without a resolution and you state there in most cases there are no delays? Did I miss something here?

<o:p></o:p>
4. Here is where I get angry

<o:p></o:p>
" Please explain some more by quoting your order ID so we know who you are and tell us your setup and spec please and also what HDD you have it on and if using a RAID server."
<o:p></o:p>
I received this e-mail today Monday 10/26/09
<o:p></o:p>
First of all I have quoted My ID number, Transaction code several times in preceding e-mails and if you don't know who I am by now refer to the incompetence statement in item 2
Ok to keep this simple, It's the same computer I installed the product the first time and It worked all I did was change the OS from XP pro to Win 7 and now it doesn't work and the refusal of Warbirds to send the activation code refers me back to statement number 2. Ok I will do it again:
<o:p></o:p>
Transaction ID left these out for forum post
Invoice ID
<o:p></o:p>
FYI there is no cart ID this was processed thru Paypal.
<o:p></o:p>
Now my system follows which is the same system as before.

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9550@ 2.83 GHZ
16GB Installed memory
64 bit Operating System
Windows 7 Ultimate
There is no raid server installed
Video is ATI Radeon 4880 with 1 GB ram
Power supply is 900 watts.
Hard drive is a Western Digital SATA 1TB
<o:p></o:p>
There are 8 internal fans for cooling one external house air condition duct that blows cool air directly on to the case. I hope this is detailed enough, still doesn't answer WHY HAVE YOU NOT SENT A ACTIVATION CODE TO UNLOCK THE MODEL.
I have asked that question since day one.

<o:p></o:p>
5. This was another response that made me laugh, How was I suppose to know that your activation process thru the security was inoperative and that I had to COPY AND PASTE the activation code and send it via e-mail, I was made aware of this today although in the preceding weeks I TOOK THE
INITIATIVE BECAUSE I THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND PERFORMED THE COPY AND PASTE METHOD PRIOR TO THIS E-MAIL FOUR (4) TIMES

<o:p></o:p>
"What do you mean by this? You also should send the activation as per the instructions in the manual and NOT attached.
<o:p></o:p>
We cannot open them.
<o:p></o:p>
WB Support"
<o:p></o:p>
Refer to Item 2 again it gives an option during the activation process to either send as a attachment through outlook express WHICH I DID or copy and paste it as a text within the e-mail WHICH I DID. This was no instruction pertaining in the manual where u had to do both.
<o:p></o:p>
6. This one takes the cake here reminds me of that comedian that says "here's your sign"
<o:p></o:p>
" Try sending the key request EXACTLY as the manual tells you. Please be patient.
Wait for an answer and work with them with regards to helping you solve the problem. A little patience with them will go a long way.
<o:p></o:p>
Regards
<o:p></o:p>
WB SUpport"
<o:p></o:p>
How does one answer this? Well back to you "here's your sign" I have performed all the steps required in accordance with the manual and still seven days later I receive e-mails requesting the same actions that I have complied with in the preceding days.
<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
In conclusion I refer back to item 2 is it me or is it them I paid 74$ for this product that as of right now does not work, well it works Its Warbids insistence on not sending the activation code required for the product. So what am I to presume here just wait until Warbirds decide to send it to me, they damn sure didn't wait when it came to processing the payment for the product even though I did have to wait two days for its original activation.
<o:p></o:p>
So either refund me the full amount or fix the problem now.
<o:p></o:p>
Regards
<o:p></o:p>

Sorry, but this is just getting silly. There's no curse, and there's no magic involved in getting this Mustang activated - it boils down to '****' and do what it says. I'll bet that just about everyone who printed the installation instructions (as it says to do), read them carefully, read them again, and then followed them exactly is up and flying.

Realy since when did you become a authority on this subject this is not silly its down right higway robbery Its not about **** try reading the F***** post first and you might be enlightened

Guys, keep it civil and keep it calm. this is not the warbirdsim support forum and you are free to post about problems, BUT we'll have no slagging of the company or it's practices, take it up with them personally.

I have not slandered the company what so ever as an avid flight sim supporter for the past 27 years I feel it necessary to post on a forum that I know the developer monitors and I feel that the public should be made aware of a situation that is bad. I would honestly think that a organization such as SOH would like to be made apprised of a situation that they themselves support. Apparently I am not the only individual that suffers from this dilemma. After all as Americans and die hard flight simulator enthusiasts and hobbyists its only right that other hobbyists as well as enthusiasts be made aware of a situation that could cost them allot of money with a outcome that is very predictable.

Kind Regards<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

sourwop, that is all fine, just making sure no lines are crossed. Keep in mind also, that your experience is not the norm, others here have had a good experience, so please don't make it out that your experience is what others are guaranteed to have.

My eperience is almost faultless installatiuin and very quick response from Warbirdsim support with a minor problem I had, and after that no problms with activation at all. Sourwop, I suggest you calm down first and then post. I appreciate all posible useful and business-like information, but reading the venting of personal frustrations merely decreases my enjoyment of participating in forums.

I agree. Had a small problem when "Warbirds" first came out for FSX; they helped install it for me. I have had no trouble since & I re-installed FSX & the P51 since. It went flawlessly.:wavey::icon29:

warbirdsim p51

In the case sourwop mentioned:-
I too had problems with activation as mentioned by sourwop, however may i point out that the problems i exprienced were do to human erro, in the fact that i had my e-mails forwrded from one e-mail account to another one, in other words the e-mail account i used to register with warbirdsim forwarded mail to another account henceforth my acivation did not work because activation text was forwarded from this account.
When i turned off e-mail forwarding and just used one account my activation did work.
So sourwop why i appriciate that you are no "noob" it maybe something that is this simple.
As Sherlock Holmes once said "Once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable must be the soulution".

@heydon:

With all due respect and I do understand what you are stating this has nothing to do with the process I have had this working installed a couple of times on my PC, it's when I switched to W7 that I incurred the problem I have right now which requires a new key code and according to Warbirds they now will refuse to send me a new one until a "amicable solution is resolved" This is a quote from their most recent e-mail and they wonder why I am aggravated but from my research on this matter I am not the only hobbyist that has to endure this:
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p> </o:p>
"Perhaps you would like to explain. In the meantime, we reserve the right to withold your key request until we can settle the matter amicably and get to the bottom of the reasons you hold dear to yourself as to your 'revenge' against us online.
<o:p> </o:p>
When we have resolved the matter then we can move on to the more important task of supporting you.
<o:p> </o:p>
Until then, we will hold your license under review."
<o:p> </o:p>
Which right there proves they have received it and for the past eight days have put me through this debacle. The solution is simple, send the key as directed in their charter and as warranted by their policy. I have no revenge thoughts or even considered such a notion that is way below my standards.
<o:p> </o:p>

Honestly SOurwop, you are not in the wrong at all. You paid for the product so you own it. They are keeping the key from you simply because they want to and that is wrong. I am entirely on your side with this one. Warbirdsim needs to get their act together. I feel bad that Bomber has to be associated with these guys because I would love to buy the P-51 to support him. I simply can't though with these people behind security.

Okay, you've been warned and apparently the message hasn't gotten through.

I'm closing this and strongly looking at terminating some folks membership.
