Warning! A Pirate!

Very impressive the texturing (and modelling) work!!!!:ernae: Love to grag out the gliders out off my hangar once in a while, but this level of detail is the best I´ve seen so far on any glider for FSX. It even looks better than the upcomming glider from aerosoft (IMHO)!

My goodness, that is brilliant. :medals:

I was just thinking Nick, is anything left of your FSX still made by Microsoft???:applause::applause:

Just three questions.

1. Will the wings have a slight flex action?

2. Just noticed that the canopy tint looks quite dark. Is there going to be a clear version?

3. Is there going to be a yaw string?

Ben

1. I haven't implemented it, but it should be easy. I'll see what I can do.
2. From the inside, or outside?
3. I'll check if there are real Pirates with yaw string.

@calypsos, thanks :)

Empeck, I missed those seat textures, I am now even more impressed!!!!:ernae::ernae:

Will you fit her with Wolgang Piper's winch launch facility? I prefer winches (and have a reasonable amount of RW launches in my logbook, albeit a long time ago) to aero-tows.

With that amount of instruments, I think a 'string' would only be retro-fitted by the individual owner, if he was of the 'old school' of gliding.

I hope this aircraft will get more people into the gliding aspect of FSX, it really is one of the best improvements MS have made with the sim.

Acutally it has its own simple winching tool, but of course you can use Wolfgang's winch too if you want.

Thanks guys. We have another nice feature in Pirat :)

Left variometer is not a simple gauge like in the default glider, but a total energy variometer.

Ah, i was just jumping in to ask that very question about the left vario with the MacCready ring - does it work in the sim - it seems to be pegged at zero in Nick's latest shots (great shots too Nick)?

I'm really looking forward to this glider and thanks for your efforts in making it as freeware - I'm sure I speak for others when I say I appreciate it very much.

I found there's two Pirats still flying it seems in Australia. I've never seen one in real life, but it's a pretty ship.

One final thing - that pilot sure looks surly to be flying such a nice ship. When I'm up in a glider you can't wipe the smile off my face!

That looks really great, like the others I really like the looks of the panel.

That VC actually looks really really impressive! Funny thing that AS plans to release it's payware glider next week. But this one here looks just a nice.

Thanks for answering. From the inside.

Carenado is one of the devs that have always seemed to have a darker tint, which has always spoilt it for me. It's like all the colors are washed out and dull.

Excellent screenies by the way. I can't wait for this one. I actually learnt to fly in a KA 7

I agree. This looks absolutely stunning, but in the screenshots from the VC, the glass does seem a bit dark. That may, of course, be realistic, but I fly gliders in FS for sightseeing as well as practice. When the canopy is too dark, it ruins the scenery. Since there is no painful solar glare in FS, I think the tinting could be backed off a bit. That's just my opinion, though, and this glider looks magnificent anyway. Thanks for sharing it with us! :icon29:

The yaw string is the most important instrument on a glider - in 30 years of RL gliding/soaring I have yet to see a glider/sailplane without one! The actual instrument fit is fairly basic when compared to most modern sailplanes.
Great looking model though. I wish someone would start to model some of the latest 'real life' hotships i.e. Ventus 2, ASG-29, JS-1, LS-10, SZD-56-2, though, like Condor does.I know Aerosoft are doing the Discus -but this is a 25 year old design! (VINTAGE!)
