'Watched The Movie "Star Trek" Last Night'...

I have been a fan of Star Trek from the 60's. I did not want to see this new movie in the theater because of all the changes made, thought I would get a little loud. Of course there are continuity errors, like Uhura ordering a Cardassian Sunrise. As for the Enterprise way to many changes were made, parts of the new design are taken from rejected drawings for the original show. As for the bridge, Forget it, but this is what the younger viewers want. IMHO, as others have said, this was a good movie, but NOT a good Star Trek movie.:monkies:

From the second disk of extras that comes with the movie one finds that they filmed at a refinery and Budweiser brewery. They changed history because they did not want to be bombarded by fans pointing out errors in the Trek history bible. But what got to me was how they planned to lauch the Enterprise from the ground. That would have been an interesting scene. Perhaps the director once saw this old photo.

LOL, they thank the tech faireys for the 'structural integrity field' when they fly that out of the drydock... Wait, they prolly beam that sucker into orbit.

I'm pretty sure (he crosses his fingers) that they would not do a film with Khan in it. Different timeline or not even attempting to re-cast the character would lose the franchise the core of fans who have stayed with it.

Ricardo Montalban should be the only man to ever play him.

Well, at this point the "Star Trek universe" doesn't matter anymore, according to Paramount. Heck, lets get Lucas to sign on and we could have cute Droids, Jedi's, and Indiana Jones from an alternate universe? Maybe we could get Spielberg too and have Transformers fighting Jedi's with phasers? Get Bruce Willis to reprise his role from Die Hard by falling through a wormhole, those kids from the new "Twilight" movie that's pretty popular now, and Lady GaGa to sing the title theme and we could make a movie that would make super duper amounts of cash?

Craptastic, sure! But as long as it makes loads of cash, who cares about plot development, or characters, or continuity, huh? It's Star Trek! :wavey::icon_lol:

The rumor mill keeps pumping out "Khan will be back in some form". Bet we see the time line when he took charge and was finally exiled.

:icon_lol: It's an ILM tradition, so keep your screams of outrage and sacrilege toned down.

When we watched Trek I did it with a house full of people that have never really cared for Star Trek, I was the only one saying how can that be! But, in the end everyone really enjoyed the movie and in all reality this movie has brought Star Trek back and put it on the map again.

Yeah I'm quite well aware of that ongoing joke with ILM, thanks. Have been for years. Pixar does it as well. You don't need to be insulting, Lionus.

Dain, it is insulting only because you take Trek too seriously.

just to lighten up the mood of this thread, have fun with XI gag reel.
