I want to run 32-bit programs in either Win10 (my desktop) or Win10pro (my tablet.)
I have a little program that will allow 16-bit programs to run but I can't find anything that will run 32-bit programs. Does anyone have or know of anything that will do it?
Back in my Win7pro days I could run Shiny, the Windows-ized adaptation of Ivan Hsu's Shine, but it doesn't work in my Win10 desktop, not even in its WinXP virtual machine. I found it a quick and easy way to gloss or semi-gloss or semi-matte a model to properly display a paint job. (Yes, I know I can do that with MDLmat but it's so annoyingly tedious!)
When I got to setting up the tablet I found that it has a Command Prompt feature, which I guess is some sort of virtual DOS. Wow, I thought, I'll be able to run Shiny, a DOS-based program with a Windows interface. Nope. I get an error message telling me that it's a 32-bit program and won't run. Drat!
I bought the tablet almost two years ago, thinking that it would be nice to be able to sit out in the yard on pleasant days and check my e-mail, read the news, and maybe do some simple FS stuff. It was listed as a refurbished unit running Win8.1 and was priced accordingly for a rig with an operating system two generations old, and for a hundred bucks I couldn't resist. It then sat in my closet for almost two years before I recently got around to setting it up for use. To my great surprise I found that it has Win10pro, which includes the Command Prompt feature, so I installed Shiny and got the result I mentioned. I've scoured the web for something to allow 32-bit programs to run in a 64-bit system and the only way I found was to install a 32-bitvirtual machine - an expense and annoyance that I'm not that motivated to do.
Any ideas?
