We Lost a Big Warbird Contributor Today...

This is really tragic news.

What surprises me is that someone put that poor guy in front of cameras to say what the story is. Not that he wasn't a friend, but he wasn't the right guy for a press release. I am not trying to sound heartless, but the gentleman sounded more like a friend than a spokesman or soundbyte.

I have the most deep condolences for Bob's family in this time of tragedy.

Too many people focus on the plane that was lost than the person. No one seems to realize that any plane made in the 1940's CAN be reproduced in this modern age. Everyone freaks out. I truly wish that people would concentrate on the life lost that was trying to keep that history alive. Personally, I really was uplifted when the man tried to figure out how many airshows Bob had been in. That told me that Bob's life was truly appreciated by the masses. I hope his memory is kept going.

Godspeed.

Spirited, motivated; full of youthful vigor, always down for a good laugh, a gentleman, ready and willing to help...and a heck of a good pilot. That was Bob.
Tailwinds my friend.

I was also shocked when I read this story this morning. Although I had only met him a few times he was always cordial and willing to share a few words. He was a tremendous pilot who I had the privilege of seeing fly several times. One of those times was at an air show held in honor of his late friend Gerry Beck who also died in a crash. What a loss for this region, the warbird community, and the country and a whole....
