• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

we would like to come back to the fold....

Hi. As only one dev, I know that this might seem a bit... presumptuous but, I would very much like to be brought back to the FSX page... having our own forum is just not working...

thanks!

(other devs, even those I love to hate, feel free to back me up here...)

I'm not a dev but I don't like having that payware subforum, just makes it take longer to find stuff

Well, I for one, hated at the beginning, but having a payware forum expands exposure as some post and threads there would have been history by now in the freeware/payware format (buried on page 14 and so on)unless someone posted there and kept it alive, so for what it takes, i like it the way it is.
Best regards

Not a dev, but I agree with Colin. :wavey:

The only downside is that there would have to be fewer stickys. Peoples interest and participation in the thread would have to be what "stickies" it towards the top of the list.

how about having new released posted on the main forum sticky for like 1-2 days or a week or some set time of days, then get moved to the Payware forum where they can stay up and be followed up on.

I liked it much better the old way, with no separate forum for payware at all. Having a separate forum just creates complications, and this forum has always thrived on simplicity. For my money, dump all the payware stuff back into this main forum and leave it be. That's just me, though. :salute:

these are all excellent suggestions folks.. truth told, Due to some PM's i recieved, i brought up the payware sub forum to the admins last week and we are currently discussing the best thing to do.. There have been many suggestions just as there have been here, and they are all being considered.. I can nly ask that you please have patience with us as we work ths out..
Thanks

As cluttered as it can get at times, I do prefer it all being on one forum. It's easier to see the latest postings all on the same page, then forgetting to navigate up to the payware discussion.

Revert! :)

I don't like the payware forum as it is right now because you have a forum "FSX Payware" hidden within a forum "General Discussion" and, the exposure is buried even further than it was originally.

Hi,
I agree entirely with those comments, I don’t like having a sub forum. I always forget that it exists, and think I am missing out on new products (I think it has saved me a lot of money thought!).
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Having new products in the main body of the forum keeps them in the spotlight for longer. Personally on many occasions I decide that I am not going to buy a product, only to change my mind after seeing screenshots and recommendations from other people, and with the new format I don’t tend to look again! so I’m sure the new format is depriving developers of a lot of sales.

I think the forum has “lost” something with this, and I don’t think this will do anything to prolong the longevity of this hobby. Just my thoughts on the subject!

Ian.

im a creature of habit and fear change

i found it easier to learn about new releases not to mention valuable information regarding the same the old way, like Ian i forget its up there, i found out about 2 releases days later that i have been waiting for desperately

my 1 cent

I'd completely forgotten about that separate forum.
Please bring it back to the FSX forum for me too...

i'm not fussed, either ways fine with me. However if things are merged back i think there should be a bit more focus on what gets stickied .. (my lack of wordy knowledge is failing me now so bear with me .. :p )

So say no work in progress threads getting stickied, and stickied thread should only be stickied for say .. 2/3 weeks if its popular enough the constant posting will keep it on the first page so people can find it etc. Also maybe a bit more restraint about what get stickied? .. like the 100 years Navy Celebration Post pic thread, by all means celebrate your navys 100th birthday ... however we do have a nice shiney screenshot forum :)

As i said i'm not fussed and either ways fine with me, just voiceing opions and butchering spelling along the way :)

I'm not bothered one way or the other...it's just a matter of clicking another link if I want to check out info on payware.
Maybe someone(maybe a mod or admin) will create a poll to see what the general consensus is as regards the division of the FSX forums?

I have to agree with the majority of the posts here, that moving the "Payware" forum to another subforum isn't working. A lot of folks are creatures of habit and will continue to go to whatever is familiar to them. Just as there are sub forums for developers, that are rarely visited, most still post their WIP stuff here in the main forum. Even when I was doing photoreal scenery, it was suggested that I post the WIP shots in that subforum. . . . I did and no one posted any comments, suggestions, anything for weeks, I finally moved everything back to the main forum.

Just my 2cents.:salute:

How come the FS2004 people don't have a separate payware forum? Discrimination, me thinks. Or maybe there's no real FS9 payware any more???

Excuse me while I go hide some where....:running:
