Website behaviour

For the last several days, I have been seeing a strange situation when I use my shortcut (https://www.sim-outhouse.org/) to access the home page. The page opens in a text-based representation, rather than the usual graphical one. The solution is easy - simply tell the browxser to reload the page, and the problem goes away until the next time that I open a browser window after a shutdown / reboot.

What is most unusual is that this happens with both FireFox under Windows and with Safari under iOS, and after every system restart of either system.

It is tempting to think that the cause may be the recent update to the website, but that may be a simple misunderstanding of the complexities of website software . . .

Incidentally, Windows updates are NOT allowed on this sytem - well, official ones that call themselves updates, but who knows what sneaky ones get through that M$ refuse to disclose . . .

. . . and just to confuse the situation, for the first time ever, I had the same happen after posting this thread and then selecting "mark forms read" - duh . . .

We have had several inconsiderate members (mostly people who have never made a post but leech from the library) making multiple concurrent downloads from the library recently and as the library and the forums share the same bandwidth when that happens the forums slow to a crawl unfortunately. We are actively looking at introducing a concurrent download limit but whenever we try to add preventative code it breaks the forum. We ask that if you are after multiple files from the library at the same time please limit yourself to a maximum of 4 concurrent files until we can sort it out. Being greedy does not help your fellow forum members!
