Weird AI behavior in P-47

Using George Burgess P-47. Great Plane but AI flights are doing some weird things. Created a mission where on August 16, 1943 escorting C-47's to Tsili Tsili, order AI flights to detach then loiter, to cover the transports landing. Enemy bombers and fighters approach, instead of engaging, every AI P-47 except those in my flights dive for the deck and crash into the mountains. I then tried mission again, with no loiter, they detach and with Lilly's and Oscars in full view, dive for the deck and crash. Any ideas what the cause is? Fixes? I don't believe have seen this before.

Dasuto247,

CFS2 can have strange behavior in mountainous terrain. It could be that the categorical data in the MISC_DATA section of the .dp is incorrect, or there are some sketchy numbers in the .air or .cfg files.

I do not believe I am familiar with that model. I tend to stick with the FDGv2 Razorback or the K. Malinowski bubble-top models. Have you tried the mission with either one of these models?

Well I would use the 47D razon back Allen released not long ago but have not found any paint jobs for it for the 348th FG. The GB P-47 has the correct paint job, performance etc just dont get why AI planes start acting like fools when detach escort. I had no idea about he FDG P 47 Ill try and find it and give a try, as well as the KM planes. Also looks like the GB P-47 is based off of KM's P-47's found at simaviation. The textures of GB worked without even have to rename it, airfile seems about the same.

Thanks allen, Ill look into that. I tried KMs' p-47 with the "cage" canopy. from hs P-47 1-3 of 10 pack at simaviation. Great plane, think the GB P47 was based on it.Did same thing after detaching from escort and with enemy planes ina rea, just went for the deck and crashed into mountains, dont get it.Performs well entire flight then suddenly, boom.

I know you're talking multiple a/c here, but what's the general flight altitude of the AI escorts when they detach? Sometimes when AI a/c are jumped from the rear and turn to engage, it's a diving turn and not the expected climbing turn where they could seek some type of altitude parity or advantage. If they're turning too low, that would explain a lot.
