• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

Well, I guess we will be loosing most of our members

The RC version has this installed but recognizes it is RC so it lets it run.

I expected to see it fully deployed. It is a service and if you turn it off. :pop4:

I don't use Windows 7. However, I am thinking of upgrading my business notebook. It is acting up and is about ready for a "wash and detail." I might just go ahead and chunk the vista it came with and install W-7.

There is a reason I always give a new OS a couple of years before I leap. Saved me on Vista...waiting to see how 7 turns out. XP is working just fine for me! :wiggle:

Sad as I am to admit this, I buy all my OS software ... So I doubt MS will be having problems with me. :wiggle:

I know someone (a'hem) that (cough) is still running a copy of XP Professional that he got about 4 months before it came out (retail). And somehow this person has also been able to get all three of the service packs. (A'hem) Give the coders a few minutes and there will be a work around for any of their protection. BTW, the fore-mentioned person is not me, just someone that I USED to be in business with.

Legal MSDNAA copy here.

And the update appears to be always optional - if you control what you update.

Hi,

Not concerned ..
I use XP and will still use XP (SP-SP1a-SP2-SP3)
He is entered in my will that my XP CD's should be in my coffin :icon_lol:
BTW .. any protections (Genuine verifications .. blah blah ...) were always and will be cracked by coders ...

Yep, same here. Still using XP 32bit. Just like a Timex.... takes a lickin and keeps on tickin. Ya gotta love that. :d Good ol MS is always trying to fix something that ain't broke. Well, it goes for anything they've done after XP was broke as far as I'm concerned. DRMs are not always the smart thing to include in software.... it'll usually bite ya in da butt til you pull it's teeth. ;)

And my XP was bought and paid for.

More to the story

I heard about this on AM Radio from a guest on Coast to Coast.

In his blog he tells you exactly which update it is that has the concern.

Personally I turned off Automatic Updates and will not be installing it.

Other than that Windows 7 is pretty boss, no problems for me learning to work with or around it.
