Well this is a first for me! (Stolen model)

Well, I am honored to announce that someone thought my work worthy enough to steal! And, best of all, they're re-packaging it for DCS!

Normally, I would care less. Just give me a smidgen of credit. Only because this person told someone he made the model from scratch (with some help from someone in Holland) does it grind my gears a tad to make a comment. He didn't even bother to change the textures.

I now have more of an appreciation for people like Mr. Daehaehns (I know I've butchered his name... much apologies) who've had their works boosted.

Ah well, just figured I'd rant.

Laters!
Jamal!

Digital property is still property. People who would never steal another's wallet seem to feel perfectly comfortable stealing digital property.

A real bad deal. Doubt they'll ever fess up to it, so you can only continue to get the word about them hopefully you're case will be supported by the community, and his DLC will go unpurchased.

Regards,
Jeff

Perhaps my attitude was wrong, but some years back somebody took my FS2002 model of the Canadian Arrow and presented it as their own on another site. My first thought was; "wow, I've made the big time, I've been pirated!"
I quickly decided someone else was developing his reputation at my expense so I was able to convince the webmaster it was mine and he took it down.

Best, Paul

I've always felt developers should hard code a gauge into the model so that if you click the combing or a spot just under the HUD a message states, "If you didn't get this at www.my-site.com, which was modeled by "developer", you don't have the right one and if you paid for it from elsewhere you've been ripped off." Or something like that. Just an idea. It let's them know they're using something pirated and at least gives proper attribution. I say this as a developer who had a model ripped off before it was even released (Demo copies- We think we know who did it, but there wasn't anything we could do about it).

That sucks.
All you can do at this point is spread the word about what he is doing.
I had an incidence like this not long ago, when I mistakenly added an interior that was not meant to be used in a paint I had done. I apologized to the creator and removed it and placed the correct one right away, even so he still insisted that I did it on purpose. I had given the other creator credit and placed the wrong file in the paint. A simple mistake.
But what this guy is doing is by no means a mistake.
Craig.

If you report it to Facebook they will take the page down. It won't stop the release but will steal their thunder.

Heya Stiz,
Ron from Razbam helped me out and got the kid banned on the DCS forums.
I don't want to get overly obsessive over it, but I think that L-39 on his facebook may be "borrowed" as well. Possibly the Tucano also.

What I'm wondering if he's the same Aerofly as the flightsim company...

Jamal

I hate it when people steal other people's products.

I doubt that the facebook site has any association with AeroflyFS, as that company has it's own dedicated website, and is recommended by different Flight sim media.

The "imposter" probably used the name to create the assumption of being related to the known AeroflyFS.
This persons IP address should be black listed.

I've had my work ripped, modded and sold, both as FS models and meshes on comercial mesh sites so I know how you feel.:banghead:
It's the main reason I don't develop any more.

Yep, happened to me and when caught out the person happened to die, convenient aye ... no record of this person existed in Tasmania and had a list off alias names attached to other peoples work, half dozen.

Yes it looks like he's fessed up...

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen. Over the recent DCS Hornet project, I am going to be mature about this and come clean. I have actually stolen this model and used it without permission, and I am greatly sorry and do apologize for this interference. I should've asked for permission I know, but I have been struggling in school lately with not only real life issues, but issues within the virtual world. I have just seen a post saying that we *I am a fraud, and I just want to make it clear that comments like that I find are very rude and over the top. You cannot just say things like that to a 13 going onto 14 year olds since to me that is very disrespectful to the future of my nation and this planet which is full of very smart, good and bad people. Now I don't know whether to stop my work as well as flying on DCS yet but if I do, I will inform everybody on this page and other pages. I do deeply apologize, and I give FULL credit of the 3d model to the FSXBA. I am sorry to ruin your hard work. I must leave now, and I hope everybody can continue their day normally and happily.

Thanks,

Ian, that person wouldn't happen to be a guy named Baz would it? Claimed he was an RAAF Hornet/C130 pilot?

Yeah, he blocked a few of us from commenting, and removed all the pictures except the aircraft itself from his facebook. Sometime in the morning, he sent me a private message asking who he should ask permission from. I told him "it would have been me but now I'm going to say no and ask you privately, at first, to remove all pictures. Next I will ask you publicly".

I don't want to club the kid too much, as I figured based on his other facebook he really may have some issues. But this may be an opportunity to for a life lesson.

May have gone by that name also .. it was so called 'Ian' (won't say the last name so not to stir a hornet nest) and it was a damn mission to get files remove from major sites and yes said was a so called RAAF Hornet pilot, took many people to check credit's and stories started to cross , I was even sent threaten letters and of all things a court order ... you really get some nutters out there.
