What a voice!

I will admit, with just a bit of embarrassment, that I have been a fan of Cyndi Lauper since the 80s. I have found her to be a very talented singer with a broad vocal range, but when I found this video on YouTube last night...I was FLOORED! I had no idea that she could do this.

I've always liked Cyndi too and have long thought she has been sadly underrated as a performer.

Who hasn't? A very unique voice and a crazy stage presense back in the day. She's mellowed over time; singing the Blues will do that to you. But she's still working.

Obio,

Nothing to be embarrassed about, I danced to "time after time" at my junior prom and still like it to this day. She's always been an artist I respected, except when she went through her wrestling phase...

OBIO: I've always liked Cyndi Lauper too. She's under-rated IMO. Although, I will always think that Etta James pretty much nailed "At Last." Cyndi Lauper does a very good job and does an original interpretation of the song. When she covers a song she always goes her own way with it. She does not impersonate the original artist.

I especially like her John Lennon tributes.

Re: Same

Now that is the sincerest form of flattery. I think Etta James would be impressed. They also
called them "Torch Singers" I'm going to you tube and add that to my favorites.

Ms. Lauper was ill-served by the times she came up in, and by the "genrefication" of the music industry.

I also have enjoyed her music for some time, and felt she was sadly underrated as a performer.

Been a fan of hers since day one.

I got to see her by "accident" a several years ago when a bunch of girls I really liked, talked me into going to see Cher in Orlando. CL was the opening act.

While Cher was a great stage show, Cyndi was by far the better musician and stole the show for me. If I had a clue that she was that good live, I would have made more of an effort to catch one of her earlier tours.

cant think of her name offhand..but the lil redheaded girl on the old 90s show "Still Standing" is an awesome "torch singer" too..beauty of a voice.
