A: Being loaded on the ship.
B: LST Mk2 can do 14 mph, The L-2 *I think* hanging there has a stall speed of 45 to 40 mph. Run the ship at full speed into a head wind and cut the rope and it flys away.
C: It Found Glenn Miller's aircraft.

Yes Sarge,it was on the military channel, A most fascinating ,informative ,show.
The great story of the piper Cub in war,and about William Piper!Both never really got their story told!...As we know spotters were necessary to find targets,and direct fire...we all know that...but this method ,I did not know of.The Landing and taking off a ship....a Rope Landing and take off....Mindboggling!..and it worked!..lots of info for the historical buff,and for little known aviation secrets.....Called the "Brodie Device, invented by Capt. James H. Brodie of the USAAF....It was the marines and infantry's eyes in that combat in the Pacific campangnes...brave Cub Pilots...Great some are left to tell this story!..Vin
