What happened? ETO Expansion

I had expansion 1 running, the game ran good. Then I got this idea to install1.2, I answered one of the questions "these files are write protected, over write yes or no. so I selected "yes". it loaded. How ever when I ran it just a map and game for 1945.

Delected everthing about the expansion's. Except of the two zip files. I then removed cfs3 and reinstalled it, with all updates. delected all of the link icons for the game. Bad move! I then reinstalled ETO Expansion. It's there, but I don' have the icons.
There use to be a ETO Expansion folder in cfs3, not ther now.What am I doing wrong?
 
Sounds well mangled... If your ETO folder was in the CFS3 folder then I hate to think what sort of tangle you'd get.

I'd recommend you start again from scratch. Look at the ETO Expansion Download Links, Comments, Questions thread for instructions on how to delete CFS3 and ETO effectively - most posts by Grizzly50 have 'em.

Now install CFS3 to its default location, fly it, update to 3.1, fly it and finally update to 3.1a and fly it again.
Then install ETO 1.0 and unless you have some terribly good reason, let the installer put it in the default location. For pity's sake don't install it to your existing CFS3 folder! Fly it to verify it's working correctly.

To update to 1.2, you must set Spawns to Stock (option 1), start ETO in Era 1 and delete ViewUI.xml in the Application Data\CFS3 ETO Expansion folder listed endlessly in Grizzly's posts. Do this in that order.

Then you can run the 1.2 update, but make sure you install it to your ETO folder. Good luck!
 
I have expansion 1.0 up and running again. It is the microsoft games folder along with cfs3 and expansion file plus zip file for both expansion upgrades.
This is the statement in 1.20 readme file
Note: Be sure to place your CFS3 ETO Expansion Theater in ERA 1 and select Stock Spawn Mode before installing this Update.
what is era 1 is that #1+enter?If do that then the program runs. I assume that is spawn 1+enter.
Your way of installation is not the same!

Happy days are here again! After receiving a private message from Grizzly50, I was able to install ETO Expansion 1.20, with no problems.
