What I have been working on; Extreme Poly Models in FS9

That adaptation of the Boeing house colours is spectacular! It fits perfectly the plane's beautiful shape, what a graceful giant.

I can remember how it was your dream to create bigger better models for FS9, and now a dream of mine is true, now I can happily welcome your creations into my sim once more. :salute:

Would you consider a JAL paint, perhaps? If not it's fine, I'm itching to paint this big bird anyway! :ernae:

For an "accidental" VC, it sure has shaped up to be one superbly detailed flight office.

Hey LB,

I'll check out there paint schemes. If I can do it, I'll make one up. So far, I still have a couple of more to do.

Thanks OBIO,

I wanted to see how powerful this new export system is. 'DANG' powerful...

Please Note!!!!!

All those buttons and toggles and knobs and things in the VC 'DO NOT WORK'. They are mockups. The digitals in the mini LCD slots are also mockups. All fake. The throttle works, the joysticks, pedals, etc. This is a proof of concept for getting this new export system working.

Also note; the VC is fully illuminated with night glow. :d (gotta have that, weather it works or not)!

Couple more. Check the 'roundedness' of things like the backs of the seats, the buttons on the joysticks, the AC ball-swivel vent. Note that the 'notchy-ness' of the polygons is almost non-existent.

One could almost call this a ...Poly Pig-out ;)

I won't mind that all those switches and dials and such are non-functional. I personally find it hard to use all those switches and such anyhow. I have so many aircraft that I fly, that I don't spend enough time in one aircraft to learn what all the switches turn on and off. And I only have two hands....one is busy working my twist grip joystick and the other is busy adjusting the throttle or hitting key combos on the keyboard. I would need a third hand and arm to use the mouse to flip switches during flight...but unfortunately we didn't live close enough to the uranium enrichment plant for our well water to be radioactive enough to grow a third appendage.

Bill it looks stunning, but when I read your explanation I absolutely have no clue what you talking about. Nevertheless when I see what people can achieve with this technique, it is an absolute break through!

I know you have looking for possibilities to break the poly-limit for a very long time, so I'm really thrilled for for to see you finally achieved.

Thanks,
Huub

Thanks Huub.

Yes, I have wanted this for ages. Its really nice to see it working. To be able to make super smooth parts and not worry about polygon counts is a relief.

I'll be making a super nice, easy tutorial on it for Gmax'ers and if you have questions on it, just ask.

LOLOLOL.... Thankfully, they are all static non-functioning switches, so no 3rd appendidge is needed, though 747 and A-380 pilots seem to get on quite well with only 2 arms and hands flying such beasts.

:d

I love those windows ! did you cut them out in using Gmax ? (I always have problems with boolean's) LOL

I'm really looking forward to this :) Thanks Bill you've made my year ! LOL

I am not sure whether this is relevant or not but just wanted to state: The Sopwith Pup model (by Daniel Dunn) in the Missions WWI Dogfight package is ~ 12 mb in FS9 (3Mb exterior model + 9Mb interior model)...And great effort Lionheart, you have just extended FS9's life...Thanks!!

That is really beautiful, even if the switches are non-functional. MS Flight sims have a long history of "flat" toggle switches, just two-dimensional representations of three-dimensional objects. It is absolutely amazing that such 3D works are being brought to FS9.

Great looking airplane Bill. It will be interesting to see what comes out after other developers have adapted this procedure. My FSX Gold DVDs are still in the package from when I purchased them months ago. They may stay there indefinitely now.
