What is going on with the P51 flight characteristics

Okay, am I missing something or is the P51 a boat to fly in CFS3? The B version seems to fly a little better than the D version, although not by much. It's been awhile since I've played CFS3.

If history serves me right I believe the P51 was a bit more maneuverable and powerful than the 109. I am completely confused, is there a fix for this other than a mod to the configuration file for the airplane? I've downloaded the latest patch from Microsoft's website.

I am thinking they used the configuration file for the MS FlightSim cessna. :)

On the other hand the P55 rocks! Almost makes the game boring

Well put! :icon_lol: Try one from here:- www.avhistory.org but read the instructions first - you'll need their Weapons and Effects packs for any of their aircraft or your sim will crash without them.

Hi Carlosandcamy

This issue has been mentioned before in the past. Because of a crash of the SOH server, most of the old threads can not be read anymore.

I remember the following:

Cause
The bad flight characteristics are caused by a fueltank behind the pilot. Als in real life this tank influenced the behaviour of the plane very badly. Pilots used droptanks and left the internal tank empty (or used the fuel in this tank first before entering enemy airspace).

Options
1. Don't fly the P-51 anymore (wouldn't be my choice)
2. Adjust the amount of fuel in the tank and use droptanks (don't know exactly how to put only 10% fuel in the main tank, but there are very smart people around who can help you with that)
3. Download new flightmodels for the stock P-51: http://www.mudpond.org/cfs3_autoinstall.html
4. Download the beautiful models from the AvHistorysite (and follow Hairyspins advise!): http://avhistory.org/communityserver/default.aspx

I wish you lots of fun with the P-51!
