Any Ideas out there about where I can find a Good F-4 Phantom ?
A Good freeware one to start would be much appreciated.

With fingers crossed. :jump:

There are at least four different threads on this page that you can start with. . .the WIP MilViz Phantom and the "portover" Cloud9 Phantom. There's also the AlphaSim freeware Phantom sets (was payware) and there's also another team doing a Phantom (also a WIP).

You can start by defining the word "Good".
They're all good - in one respect or other. In their day, some were very much 'state-of-the-art' and deserve recognition for that.

I suppose it all boils down to what you want.
If you want a late USAF/Export model, wait for the Milviz offering or go for the Cloud9 port-over project. Both are/will be payware.
If you want USN/USMC models the Alphasim/Virtavia freeware offerings are the current way to go. There are known issues with these, of course, when used in FSX. There was talk of an FSX-native F-4B, but that seems to have disappeared.

IMHO the Cloud9 portover with the wonderful mods by Henk wins hands down until the release of the milviz offering.

It is 50% freeware, meaning that you have 7 minutes trial time after which the gauges will stop working and will stop the model from being used. But using the mods by Henk will end the trial period and you'll have a working Phantom in FSX for all eternity.

I bought mine during the FS9 days and so nothing stops me from using the original models and textures in FSX.

Also, the modelling is just exquisite! It is unbelievable that this model was developped for FS9 when you fly it in FSX. I mean, there are several native FSX models (payware) that don't even come close modelling wise.

And with the mods by Henk, it has turned my FSX into a Phantom simulator. No other model gets the mileage that the Phantom gets.

In fact, I'm going to fly it right now!

Perhaps you know more than us normal mortals, but I think it is not so obvious to declare a product, from which only development pictures exist, the best. But that's my humble opinion.

Since the upcoming Milviz Phantom is all the place, the answer is pretty much obvious. :untroubled:

That doesn't help the op one iota - "is " is the operative word - as in what's available now.

To the op :

The c9 has certainly revived and evolved to a fine looking model - still trying to get it going - but you can see from the other posts that it indeed is a phenomenal model.

Also available is the ported over Virtavia family - with Henks work he made those work nicely - kudos to his superb work. There are some VC issues but you have almost every F-4 model. Tons of repaints available.

Lastly, the IRIS FGR models are nice as portovers. Few repaints, but completely represent the UK Phantoms.

Andreas Meyer has done done some Phantoms. No experience with those.

Today, that's what's available.

Can't remember I uploaded any Virtavia Phantom portovers, credit for those goes to Don "fxsttcb" Bodenstedt I think.

I stand corrected Henk - it indeed was Don. My apologies. The amount of work he did there was significant - was my point.

thanks for clearing that up.

Can you point me at the mods by Henk? I search the SOH library for everything 'Phantom' and 'Henk Schuit', but came up dry.

Cheers!

A2A have the F4, T33 and the F104 on the back burner for now, once other projects are completed, they will start back on them.
From what I have heard. These will all be AccuSim aircraft.

Is was Don. I'm in touch with him now looking for his conversions for the Alphasim version. I may revert to his version just to get the Navy pack. I can do something to the Turkey Feathers
area and make the AB glow like whats been done for the C9 version here. There are a lot of free Navy repaints avail as well for this version.
I think Don just made a VC panel that would be compat with FSX version
