kool, I took flight lessons there as well as Lansing muni.
When I was a kid (late 1950's) my uncle and I would occasionally stop by Palwaukee so I could watch the planes. Back then it was owned by Priester Aviation and they had an old Beech 18 or some similar bird mounted on a stick on the Milwaukee Ave. side of the field. I always thought that was neat. :) Never got to fly until I joined the Navy.

Small world, Priester Aviation is where my instructor rented his A/C from and is still there as far as I know, but admit I haven't been that way in a few years. IIRC that plane is still there close to the restaurant parking lot.

I still fly out of the default airfield. I have muliple installs. I tried once to change the default in one install and it changed the other installs also, ...so, if anyone knows how to set up multi installs to fly out of different airfields without affecting each other, I would appreciate learning how to do this.

Thanks,

Geary

If you rename your FS9.exe file in each install, it'll generate a separate .cfg file each one that's renamed. Then you can redo the default flight for each one you've renamed. I'd keep one set up default for those addons that look for the default set up.

Hope this helps

for a default flight , i use yan koun's max holste broussard MH1521 out of georender/FSaddon lake wenatchee state park ( 27W )

Default C182S @ GSO, cold/dark, parked where GA really parks and not up at the cargo ramp.

Whitehawk, open the fs9.cfg and find the [STARTUP] section. Change the SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN= line to zero and you'll go straight to your default flight instead of getting the menu first. Personally, I don't like that, since I almost never fly the same thing twice in a row, nor from the same place.

The LHC Epic Dynasty on the ramp of my last destination, ready for a cold start, with whatever gas was left in the tanks when I last shut her down.

Real time and weather, though the time usually gets bumped to day.

I still use the default C172 (cold and dark) because some of my addons claim that's best. My first task on startup is to pick the plane (often the Quest Kodiak, which is anxiously awaiting an upgrade :wiggle: ).

I do have it set up to start at KLAF, my home airfield.

My normal base is CYAW (Shearwater) in Halifax/Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Latest affectations are the Sectionf8 Sabre and the Captain Sim F-104.

CYFD, Brantford (the one I'm working on) my home base, and the Alphasim T-6 in RCAF colours with my sound pack. Sweeeeet.

Here's the briefing for my default flight.

It's dawn on a wet Sunday morning and you're to ferry a Lockheed Constellation from Gatwick to Heathrow for another crew to take on to Jamaica. You will return by bus and start an all-day airport standby. Your clearance, Biggin 3P departure, expect 09R at Heathrow. QNH 1013, wind 045 at 15 kts. Runway wet. Cleared for take-off. Have a nice day.

To elaborate on my earlier post, cold iron status with Real Wx on and matched to the time of day here. Here's the view when the flight is started.

Mid-afternoon at Solenzara AB (LFKS) on Corsica in the stock Cessna. Cold and Dark.
Once the engine and avionics are running I change to something a lot faster.
:ernae:

I use the Alphasim BAC Lightning F Mk.6, coded XS899/BL of 11 Squadron.

Dave
